CAR TICKET HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED 1130.3, 1912.
mil/III' UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES H. MARDOCK, OF ALEDO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO EDWARD IVI.
CASTLE, 0F J OY, ILLINOIS.
CAR-TICKET HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed December 3, 1912.
Patented June 24, 1913. Serial No. 734,703.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JAMES H. MARDooK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Aledo, in the county of Mercer and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Car-Ticket Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in car ticket holders; and the object of my invention is to provide a light, neat, simply constructed receptacle arranged to be carried in the pocket to hold a plurality of car or other tickets, in such a manner that a ticket can be readily withdrawn from the holder without disturbing the remaining tickets within the pack.
Another object of my invention is to provide a ticket holding receptacle with a holding means so that an advertising member in the form of a printed card, Celluloid sheet, or other flat member may be attached to the device.
IVith these and other objects in View the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and finally pointed out in the appended claim, it being further understood that changes in the specific structure shown and described may be made within the scope of the claim, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specilication and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views: Figure 1, is a plan view. Fig. 2, an end elevation. Fig. 3, a vertical transverse section on line 3, 3, of Fig. 4. Fig. 4, a central, vertical, longitudinal section. Fig. 5, a bottom plan view. Fig. 6, a horizontal section on line 6, 6, of Fig. 4.
In carrying out the object of my invention, I employ a main open ended holding member including the apertured top forming section 1, having the side sections 2 which are continued in the two bottom supporting flanges 3, as shown in Fig. 2. Contained within this holding member is a carrying member comprising the bottom forming plate 4 which has the side sections 5 held in parallel spaced relation and being shown in Fig. 2. Near one end each side section 5 is provided with an edge entering slot 6,
these slots being located opposite one another, as shown in Fig. 6.
Extending at right angles from the bottom plate 4, is the end forming section 7, this plate further near each end being provided with an outstanding flange 8, formed in stamping out a part of the plate, as clearly shown in Fig. 4. The outstanding flanges 8, do not extend the full width of the plate and are arranged to snugly tit between the bottom supporting flanges 3, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
Loosely and slidably held within the carrying member is a follow plate 9, more clearly shown in Fig. 6, and which has the outwardly extending ears 10 arranged to be slidably held within the slots 6. This follow plate 9 is provided with the outstanding stop ears 11, shown in Fig. 3, directed inwardly, as shown in Fig. 6. This follow plate 9 is arranged to work against the under face of the main section 1 and is normally held in spring pressed condition against this member by means of a coil spring 12. This coil spring at one end rests upon the bottom forming plate 4. The ears 11 are arranged to hold the spring in place. These ears l1 are formed in stamping a portion of the metal outward.
The car tickets indicated at T are placed below the member 1 and upon the follow plate 9. Now when it is desired to remove a ticket the same is slid out of the open end 13 of the receptacle.
The flanges 8 are arranged to receive an advertising card or a card bearing the name of the owner of the boX. The card, which is marked 14 in the drawings, is slipped under the flanges 8 before the carrying member is inserted within the holding member. After the carrying member is shoved into the open ended holding member, the card 14 is held between the flanges 3 and 8, as shown in Fig. 5.
In order to hold the carrying member against casual displacement within the holding member, I provide the carrying member and holding members each with inwardly directed snugs 15, as shown in Fig. 6. The snug of the outer holding member coperates with the snug of the carrying member, so that these two members will be securely held together, and an accidental displacement prevented.
Having thus described my said invention,
what l claim es new and desire to secure by United States Lettere Patent is:
In n. device of the character described, the combination with an open ended mein holding,1 member having en Lpeitnl'ed top seotion including two side sections each provided With e bottom supporting flange, of a carrying member held Within said holding member comprising e bottom forming plete having parallel tunning side sections each side section near one end having en edge entering slot said bottom plete having en end forming section extending et right angles, e follow plete loosely end slidnbly held within seid Carrying member having outstanding ears arranged :Fior co-eotion with said slot seid follow plete having outstanding stop eers, and zt Coil spring held to seid bottom plate and against seid Jfollow plete and retained in position by means of seid outstanding stop eers, seid carrying member and holding membeil each being provided with registering snugs, as end for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature, in presence of two Witnesses.
hi.' JAMES n. Milenoon.
