Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 30, 1915.
Application filed May 26, 1914, Serial No. 841,071. Renewed February 8, 1915. Serial No. 5,975.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. REACH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohicopee, Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Disci, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improved metal discus, it being the object of the invention to make a construction of great simplicity, presenting a perfectly smooth exterior with the least possible resistance to the air, together with freedom from scams or joints to tear the hands.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 shows my improvement in elevation, and Fig. 2 is a section through the center.
The invention includes a formed ring A, and a center post B, with two shells C, supported by the post and riveted thereto, presenting flattened faces at this point, the outer parts of the shells being tapered to contact with and be bent around the ring, as shown in the sectional View, rivets D passing through the shells to securely hold the parts together. Where the edges of the shells come together at the periphery of the ring they are soldered or brazed.
It will be seen that there is thus formed a and a central support, substantially as de scribed.
3. A discus comprising two shells having their edges brought together, and a ring located within the space formed by the shells and secured thereto, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof, I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM F. REACH.
