SEAT FOR WATER-CLOSETS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 23, 1915.
Application filed June 3, 1913. Serial No. 771,378.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LEOPOLD ANTONTN JAUBARD, a citizen of the French Republic, residing at Toulouse, Republic of France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Seats for Water-Closets, of
v which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a seat for water closets the construction of which is improved in such a manner that the seat can be used by children as well as by grown up persons.
In the accompanying drawings the inven tion is shown by way of example Figure lis a perspective view of the apparatus arranged for grown up persons. Fig. 2 is a similar view representing the apparatus arranged for children.
The apparatus is composed of two upright side parts to which supports or seat members B are hinged at 1 and 2. These supports are designed to support the legs of the person and they are hingedly fixed to the side parts so that they can be lifted if the water closet C has to be cleaned. The vertical side parts are connected at the upper end by a horizontal board A, the front end of which is cut out to form a support for the back. Upon this curved part of the front edge of the board A a back 3 is fixed and a movable back 4 is pivotally mounted upon the axles 5 in such a manner that it 7 can be lowered from the upright position shown in Fig. 1 to the position shown in Fig. 2. In the position Fig. 2 the back 4 is situated under the horizontal board A and in such a position that it can serve as a back support for a child seated upon the horizontal supports B.
In a water closet seat, in combination, two side members spaced from one another, a
member positioned between said side memv bers and binding them together, seat members secured to said side members below and in front of said binding member. saidbindL ing member being provided with a fixed back, and an adjustable back pivotally mounted on said'binding member and adapted to be positioned above-or below the same whereby the seat may be used by adults or children.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
LEOPOLD ANTONIN J AUBARD.
Witnesses: ROBERT SCHREYER,
