lMPROVEMENT IN FASTENERS FOR cARRmeE-cuRrAiNs, &c
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent: andmaking pert of the same.
' To all whom it may concern Be it knownthat I, SAMUEL Snn'rn, J r., of Richmood, Wayne county, in the State of Indiana, have invented an Improvement in Carriage-Curtain and' Carriage-Apron Fastenings; and I hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description thereof, reference'b'eing had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
The natnre'or essence of my invention consists in the particular construction and arrangement of devices forming the improved fastening for carriage-curtains and aprons, described in the following specification and represented in the accompanying drawing In the accompanying drawing- 1 I ignrel shows the back side of the curtain or strap H, with the inside plate I fastened by the divided flange of the front plate B, which projects through the plate I around the hole J, and the divisions of the flange are bent down to hold the plate I firmly on the strap H.
Figures 2 and 3 show the front of the strap H, with the two wire springs G O, which are bent in the form put through holes I) D in the plate B, where they may be fastened by riveting or bending over the ends to hold them to the plate.
Figure 4 is a section of fig, 3, cut vertically through the center, with the knob'E in place, which knob has a recess, F, under the head, which the springs O 0 spring into and hold the strap on the knob, unless sufficient force is applied to spread the springs by forcingthem againstthe head of the knob.
The springs press against each side of the knob and hold the strap on until the \vindswell's the curtain and draws theside of the hole against the knob, when B, wire springs G and O, and knob E, all constructed, arranged, and combined substantially as and for the purposes set forth,
