To all whom it may concern:

Y with walking plows of ordinary construction.

The invention has for its object to produce a simple and efficient riding attachment which may be readily applied to an ordinary walking plow without interfering with the operation thereof, the plow being free to be guided in the usual manner.

A further object of the invention is ,to produce a simple and efficient riding attachment in connection with a floor upon which the operator may stand if so desired.

With these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawing has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibited, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claims may be made.

In the drawing,Figure 1 is a perspective view of a plow equipped with the improved riding attachment. Fig. 2 is aside elevation of the same partly in section and showing the floor raised to an out-of-the- ,Theriding attachment comprises two side members 15, each of which has an intermediate curvedor ofl'set portion 16 producing divergent rear ends 17 which are supported on an axle 18 having ground wheels 19. I The side members 15 are also connected together by a cross bar or brace 20. Pivotally supported on one of the side members near the rear end thereof is a bracket 21 supporting a seat 22 which may be moved to various positions relatively to the side members of the frame. When the operator. desires to ride he may move the seat to a position intermediate the side mem bers, but if he desires to stand, the seat may be swung to a rearward position in alinement with the side member with which the bar 21 'is pivota'lly connected. I

The side members 15 are provided with grooves or recesses 23 in the inner-side faces thereof, said grooves having downward oil"- sets 24 at their front ends and upward offsets 25 at the rear ends thereof- These grooves or recesses receive the ends of a cross bar 26 having arms or brackets 27 that support a floor or platform 28. When the cross bar 26 is moved rearwardly in the recesses 23 and into engagement with the offsets 25, the brackets 27 will be supported on the cross bar 20 from which they extend downwardly, thus supporting the floor or platform in convenient position for the oper-- a-tor to stand on. Should it be desired to dispense with the use of the platform, the

brackets 27 may be swung upwardly, permitting the cross bar 26 to be moved forwardly in the recesses 28 until it drops into the offsets 24, and the platform maynow be connected with a hook 29 at the end of a flexible element 30 which may be'attached I to the plow beam or to one of the rounds that to the contour of the land. lhe riding attachment may be detached from the plow by simply removing the bolt 83.

When the plow is equipped with the improved attachment, the operator may ride on the seat 22 or stand on the platform 28, or the latter may be swung to an out-of-theway position, thus enabling the operator to walk behind the plow and guide the same in the customary manner, when preferred, without necessity of dismantling the riding attachment.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is y l. The combination with a plow, of a riding attachment comprising side members, a wheel carrying axle supporting the same, and a cross bar connecting the side members, said side members being provided with grooves in their opposed faces, a cross bar slidable in said grooves, brackets extending from the slidable cross bar and adapted to rest on the cross bar supported on the side members, and a platform carried by the brackets.

2. In a riding attachment for plows, side members provided in their opposed faces with grooves having downward offsets at their front ends and upward offsets at their rear ends, a cross bar slidable in the grooves, platform carrying brackets associated with said cross bar, and a. member extending between the cross bar to support the platform carrying brackets when. the cross bar associated therewith is in engagement with the upward offsets at the rear ends of the recesses.

3. A riding attachment for plows comprising side members provided in their opposed faces with recesses having downward ofisets at their front ends and upward offsets at their rear ends, a cross bar slidably engaging the recesses, platform carrying brackets associated with the cross bars, a cross bar connecting the side members and adapted to support the platform carrying brackets, and means for supporting the platform in a raised position when the slidable cross bar engages the downward ofisets at the front ends of the recesses in the side members.
