To all whom t may concern Be it` known that l, GEORGE N. BEASLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Test Tulsa, in the county of Tulsa and State of Oklahoma,'have invented new and useful Improvements in Washboiler Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

The invention provides a device unique in structure to be used in connection with a wash boiler of any type for removing soil from clothing during the process of boiling thereby facilitating the operation of cleansing clothes during the process of laundrying.

The invention relatesto the type of wash boiler attachments embodying a hollow base, a stand pipe and a distributer, said base confining the steam and hot water and directing the same upwardly through the tube to the distributer whichcauses the water to descend upon the clothing or other articles to be cleansed with the result that the process is automatic and the labor usually required minimized.

rlhe invention relates more particularly to the formation of the distributer whereby the water is divided into streams or jets and to the peculiar structure of the base whereby the same is supported a distance from the bottom of the boiler or like vessel and at the same time provides for the return of the water to the interior of the base or chamber to be again heated and caused to pass upwardthrough the pipe or tube to the distributer.

The invention consists of the novel features, details of construction and combination of parts, which hereinafter will be more particularly set forth, illustrated in theaccompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawings forming a part of the specication, Figure l is a perspective view of a wash boiler attachment embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical central section. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the distributing head, the parts being separated. Fig. 4t is a horizontal section on the line of Fig. 2.

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description, and indicated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.

The attachment comprises essentially a hollow base l, stand pipe 2, and distributing head 3. These parts may be constructed in any manner depending upon the special use of the device and the form of the boiler or like yvessel in which the same is to be placed. As shown the parts are of circular form but it is obvious that the outline may vary. The hollow base is preferably of frusto conical form and hasan opening at the apeX in which is fitted the stand pipe 2 for the inflow of the water when the device is in operation. Legs 1 support the base a distance from the bottom of the boiler or like vessel in which the device may be placed so as to provide a space or chamber for confining the water while heating preliminary to its upiiow through the stand pipe 2. The hollow base is reinforced at its lower edge by runs of a wire 5, which is fitted to such edge in any well known manner.

The stand pipe 2 may be of any length and tapers throughout its length, the lower or receiving end being the larger. Connection between the stand pipe and hollow base may be made in any manner to insure a substantial and durable joint. The upper end of thev stand pipe connects with the distributing head 3 at a central point thereby admitting of the water being directed laterally in all directions which is necessary to a uniformity of action.

The distributing head 3 is hollow and comprises an upper plate 7 having a depending rim 8 and a lower plate 9 having a depending rim l0. The two plates 7 and 9 are spaced apart and the lower plate is connected directly to the upper end of the stand pipe. The two rims 8 and 10 have a concentric arrangementL and touch at intervals and have spa-ces l12 intermediate the portions in connection. The spaces 12 provide outlets for the water and steam and may be formed in any manner as by crimps in the rim 8. The spaces 12 are relatively long and narrow thereby causing the water to discharge in streams or jets in such a manner as to practically cover the clothes supported upon the hollow base to be cleansed by the process of boiling. The parts 7 and 9 are separable to admit. of cleaning the distributer head. Studs llproject outwardly from the rim 10 and enter bayonet slots 13 formed in the rim 8. The connections 11 and 13 also serve to properly space the parts 7 and 9. n

The water descends in jets or streams passes through the clothing and removes the dirt therefrom, such water again passes into the hollow base through the space provided by the legs 4:, and is again heated and caused to pass upward through the stand pipe in a continuous How, the circulation thus established being maintained so long as the water is properly heated and maintained at a suitable level in the boiler.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the advantages of the construction and of the method of operation of the invention will be readily apparent to those skilled in l the art t0 which ythe invention appertains, and while I have described the principle of operation of the invention7 together with the device which I now consider to be the best embodiment thereof, desire to have it understood that the device shown is-merely illustrative and that such changes may be made when desired as are Within the scope of the claim appended hereto.
