SCRUBBING-BRUSH HOLDER.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, EDWARD .IABANL a citizen of the United States, resident of St. Albans, in the county of Franklin and State of Vermont, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Scrubbing-Brush Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a central longitudinal section of the invention as applied. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the clamp portion. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of a modified form of the ferrule.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved holding attachment for scrubbing brushes, whereby it is designed to furnish means for using such a brush without soiling the hand.
The invention consist-s in the novel construction and combinations of parts, as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, illustrating the invention, the numeral 2, indicates the holder or clamp; 3, a long handle, and 11, a. scrubbing brush, to the middle of the body of which, the holder is designed to'be connected.
The holder consists of a clamp portion 5, and a tang 6, cut therefrom. The clamp portion 5, is of malleable plate iron, about one-eighth of an inch thick, and somewhat more than an inch wide. VIts front end is provided with a downward extending flange 7, having points or teeth 8, directed inward or backward to engage the body of the brush. Its rear end is provided with a downward turned flange 9, having a threaded aperture 10, for a thumb screw 12, designed to engage the body of the brush in rear. A
