Letters Patent No. 109,318, dated November 15, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN CLCTHES-LINE REELS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'it 'may concern:
Beit known that I, GEQRGE HOLMAN, of Waterville, in the county of Oneida and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improve- The nature of my invention consists in the constructiou and arrangement of a revolving reel for clothesliues or other lines, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.'
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will uowgproceed, to describe its construct-ion and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms apart of this specification, and which represents a side elevation of my reel.
A represents the head of the reel, provided, at each end, with two arms, B B, the outer ends of which are slotted, as shown, to receive the knotted ends of the line.

'leaving or forming a semicircular space or recess at each end ot' the reel, in which the line is placed as it is wound up.
Near one end of the reel, on the upper side, is pivoted a knob, C, which forms the handle by means of which the reel is revolved.
Through the center of the head A passes a. bolt, D, which also passes through a block, E, or a fence-post or other suitable place where the reel is to be attached,
