I illustrate-my invention in the accompanyingdrawings, in which Figure l is a perspective View showing the application-of my invention to the leg of a cow and "holding the tail from switching. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of being had to the details of letter, A designates a piece Reference now the drawings by of flat resilient metal, curved preferably as "shown, and is adapted to grip about and frictionally engage the leg of a cow. A resilient band, designated by letter B, is fastened to the metallic strip A by rivets or other suitable means and is made so as to yield to allow the same to grip the tail of a cow. One end of the band B is bent to form a compound curve as at D and its end E for convenience of 0nd and somewhat similarly shaped strip F part shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2 of the drawings, while'an end of the band B may be position also shown in dotted lines and affording means whereby the leg and tail may be engaged by the strips when the handle ends are released the tail being held. in the manner shown in l ig. 1 of the drawings.
What I claim to be new is F terminates at one advertising matter may appear, if deof the leg clamping strip A to assume the position A device for holding cows tails, the same comprising a resilient metallic strip bent upon itself, its free ends being curved to embrace the leg of a cow, a metallic strip bent upon itself and riveted to the first named strip, the said band being bent to form a loop to engage the tail of a cow,'one end of said riveted band being curved outwardly and serving, in conjunction with a like curved band attached-to the first mentioned loop, to form a handle upon one side of the device and adapted to engage or disengage the device by the resiliency of the band forming the loops, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature inpresence of two witnesses.
1 WILLIAM S. SMITH.
