Gang, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in garbage receptacles. The object of our invention is to provide a garbage canort such construction that the garbage or refuse deposited in the same will be allowed to drip or drain itself into the lower part or receptacle of the vessel.
Furthermore, the ob ect of this invention is to provide a receptacle for garbage c0mprising a main body can having a perforated bottom and a removable base for receiving the liquid and also for supporting a disinfectant receptacle in order that the fumes will pass up through the openings in the bottom of the main can and will permeate the contents to prevent putrefaction and will keep the atmosphere surrounding such can and the contents of the can at all times in a sanitary condition.
Finally, the object of the invention is to provide a can comprising an upper and lower section and means'for locking said sections together and furthermore to provide a receptacle to contain the disinfectant having a cover provided with openings therein and means for closing the openings when it is desired to remove the liquid from the lower section of the garbage can.
i Vith the foregoing and other objects in View, the invention consists in the details of construction, and in the. arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter more fully set forth and described and more particularly pointed out in the claim..
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of the specification wherein like characters denote corresponding parts in the several Views and in which Figure 1, is a perspective view in elevation showingourimproved garbage can, Fig. 2, is a vertical section of the'same, ig. 3, is an end view of the bottom of the upper section showing the perforationsand the locking plates, Fig. i, is a view of the bottom secof the main receptacle and tion showing'the disinfectantreceptacle in position therein.
In the drawings 1 indicates the main receptacle and '2 the lower receptacle, or base. The main receptacle-is provided with a removable cover 3 having a handle e. Upon each side or the can we provide handles 5'5 by which the garbage can may be lifted, or carried, from place to place, as desired. l fe also provide the main receptacle with vertical corrugated protectors 6 which are secured by any suitable means to the outside per and lower edges we provide strengthen ing ribs 7-7 which extend around the can. The strengthening rib is formed at the upper end by having the body portion of the receptacle bent back upon itself which provides not only a strengthening rib, but also means to prevent the can from cutting or in any way liable handling the can. The main receptacle is also provided with a flange 8 which extends below the bottom of the can, as shown in Fig. 2. V? e provide the base with handles 99 located upon each side of the base and on the inside flanges 1010 which are secured to the inside or" the base at diametrically opposite positions to each other. Said flanges provide means for supporting a rectangular shaped disinfect-ant receptacle 11. it is to be noted that the flanges do not extend the full depth of the base but terminate approximately intermediate the top and bottom of the base. We provide the rectangular shaped receptacle 11 with a cover 12 having apertures in the central portion thereof and over which a disk 18 having around the up-'.
to cause injury to the person apertures Pi -1 ais pivotally connected to 7 the lid. This pr vides means for closing the apertures in the main lid of the rece tacle when it is desired to remove itor when the base is to betipped over that the liquid may discharge from the base without discharging the contents of the disinfectant rcceptacle. We also provide means. for looking the top and bottom sections together. Said means comprises plates i5-15 which are secured atone end to the bottom of. the main receptacle by any suitable means. The plates are secured at opposite ends to the bottom and the free ends extend in opposite directions to each other.
We secure to the sides of the bottom receptacle inverted reshaped arms 16-46 var-M which are adapted to enter between the bottom of the main receptacle and the free ends of the lates 15-15 secured thereon. The inverte L-shaped arms enter on opposite sides of these plates and when the main receptacle is placed upon the base, the base telescopes the flange portion of the main receptacle and by a mere twist of either the base or the maln rece tacle, the L-shaped arms contact, or enter t e space between the plate and the bottom and thereby lock the two sections of the can together.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:
In a garbage can. of the character described, a main receptacle provided with a perforated bottom a removable base adapted to be secured on the main receptacle, sup ports secured upon the inner sides of said base, a disinfectant receptacle provided with a rotary disk shaped cover adapted to be secured upon said supports substantially as described.
- In testimony whereof we afiix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
