Description

OTTOKAR SERPEK, F PARIS,
FRANCE,
ASSIGNOR TO SOCIT GENERALE DES NITRURES, 0F PARIS, FRANCE.'
REVOLVING ELECTRICAL FURNACE WITH RESISTANCES ARRANGED DAMETEICALLY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patent-ett hier. 25, 19.5 3.,
Application led July 23, 1912. Serial No, 711,092,
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, O'rronAR Snaren. a subject of the Austro-Hungarian Emperor, residing at 12 Rue Roquepine, Paris` France, have invented new and useful Improvements in Revolving' Electrical Furnaces with liesistances Arranged Diametritally, of which' the following is a specification.
This invention relates to revolving` furnaces intended chiefly for the .niainitacture of aluminium nitrid, and having diametrical resistances, such` for example, as described in my U. S. Patenti No. 1,t`ill,t 28, in which the resistance is set forth as consist ing yot' a number of sections pres-sed one against another or agglomerated together.
The object of my invention is to so construct the resistances as to maintain their electrical resistance constant `in spite of the Wear 0i their edges.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a View illustrating merely by way of example7 a cross-section of a resistance turn-acc in Which my invention may be employed.` and Fig. 2 is a sectional View through a number of my improved resistance sections.
In Fig. l, A represents a rotary tnbnh :furnace adapted to receive the material at one end and discharge it at the other, as the furnace rotates. At. suitable intervals in the length of the furnace chamber are transverse resistant-es which may consist of joined sectionsl l in the interior ofl the chamber and end the insulating; walls oi" the furnace for connection with thc electric circuit outside the furnace. 'The intention consists in giving: a bevel or feather edge to vthe periphery of each of these sections l, ll. The part which is active :is regards resistance is that comprised with in the cylinder indicated by the dotted lines (z 7 c (Z e 7 ll`his arrangeH nient allows ot' maintaining` a constant resistance in spite of the Wear of the edges of the sections. until this wear atict'ts the Whole of the beveled portion.
l claim as my invention:
A revolving electric furnace, havingr rev sistances extending across the interior of the furnace and electrical connections outside of the furnace, the dianietriral resistances being in sectionsv with oereled edges, as and for the purpose sot il'ortth.
In testimony whereof l have signed my name to the specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
