Mo- QARREQHIH. citizen of the United States, he siding at'Pittsi'ield, in the county of Berkvented certain new and useful Improvements 7 in Beds, of which the following is a specification, reference being: had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to beds and has specicl reference to a bed arranged to fold up within a frame.
The principal object of the invention is to improve and simplify the general construction of devicesof this character.
Another object of the invention to provide an improved folding bed which can be moved from place to place around the room and yet be light in construction.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in general of certain novel constructions, combinations and ar rangeinents of parts, as will. be hereinafter hilly described, illustrated, in the accompan'ying drawings, and spedifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, like charactors of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and :Fignre 1 is a vertical I section through a bed constructed in accordance withthis invent-ion. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the lower portion of the framework and head oi the bed proper. Fig. 3 is a detail section on the line 33,

In the form shown in' Fig. 1 there is provided a pair of substantially T-shaped standards 10 to which are connected frames each consisting of a horizontal bottom member 11 which is extended upward to constitute a vertical member '12 having its upper end bent outward as at 13 parallel. to the bottorn member 11 and carried around the front to form a suitable support for a shelf and curtain. or the like. By this means the curtain may be supported so as to afford ventilation. The upper portions 13 are each connected to a respective standard 10 by means of a brace 14. *livotcd to each of the standards 10 is a V-shap'ed bracketlf) and the. rear arm of this bracket is provided with a forked extension 16.

In a portable bedstead of the class described. the combination of'a plurality of substantially T-shaped standards provided with laterally extending reinforcing web portions, each standard provided with a notcl'lcd portion at'lts lower end, a pair of V shaped brackets pivoted at the npperends of said standards. forked extensions at the rear ends of said brackets, a side rail positioned within said forked extensions, :1 bed frame securedto said V-shaped brackets, said side rails adapted to constitute means for holding a mattress upon said bed, and a frame provided with forwardly extending t'cct adapted to fit. within said notches of said standard and constituting a support therefor.
