Application filed August 1, 1911. Serial No. 641,779.
1 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LOUIS V. IVRIGHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Buckles; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full,'clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-
Figure 1 a top view of a buckle constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 a bottom view of the same. Fig. 3 a sectional view.
This invention relates to an improvement in slide buckles such as are commonly used on belts and for other purposes and which consist of a cast metal frame and a sheet metal slide. I
The object of this invent-ion is to simplify the construction and provide for limiting the movement of the slide with respect to the frame, and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter .described and particularly recited in the claim.
In carrying out my invention I employ a cast metal frame having side bars 2, 3, front bar 4:, rear bar 5, upper transverse bar 6 and lower transverse bar 7. The upper transverse bar is formed with a downwardly proje'cting lug S the forward edge of which is beveled as shown in Fig. 3. In connection with the frame I employ a slide 9 struck up from sheet metal and formed on opposite sides with wings 10 which provide sufiicient width for a slot 11 and also form shoulders 12 and 13 which engage with'the bar 7 to limit .the inward movement of the slide. This slide is formed near its inner end wit-h a longitudinal slot lt and the metal at the inner end of the slot is slightly bowed as at 15. This slide is inserted below the front bar 4 over the lower transverse bar 7 and under the upper transverse bar 6. The portion 15 guides the slide over the lug 8 and the slide has sufiicient spring to permit the slide to be crowded over the lug which enters the slot so as to interlock the slide with the frame and limit the outward movement ner end with a longitudinal slot into which 7 ing witnesses.
