Description
M. KIESSLING Dec. l, 1931.
BUCKLE Filed May 26,' 1950 Patented Dec. 1, 1931 STATES PATENT oli-FICE :MAX KIESSLING, OF WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT, .ASSIGNOR TO THE AMERICAN FASTENER COMPANY, OF WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT, A CORPORATION BUCKLE Application filed May 26, 1930. Serial No. 455,509.
This invention relates to an improvement in buckles, and while adapted for various purposes, is particularly designed for use on hose-supporters of the type which are suspended from corsets or other garments. The object of the invention is to provide a buckle to which the web may be firmly attached and which will maintain a firm grip upon the webbing, so as to prevent slipping.
In the accompanying drawings:
F l is a front view of a buckle constructed in accordance with my invention and shown as appliedV tov the garment-supporting web;
Fig. 2 is a side view of the same;
Fig. 3 is sectional view taken on the'line 3-3 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the buckle detached.
In carrying out my invention, I employ a frame comprising a top bar 5, lower bar 6, and end bars 7 and 8, these end bars being turned rearward.
Between the top and bottom bars is a centrai bar 9 and between the bars 9 and 6 a transverse slot lO is formed by slitting the metal so as to form a lip 11, which extends L upward in rear of and parallel with the central bar 9 and this bar 9 is formed at its upper edge with rearwardly-extending teeth 12. Above the central bar 9 the metal is cut away to form a transverse slot 13 and the lower edge of the top bar 5 is formed with rearwardly-inclined teeth 111.
One end 15 of the webbing is inserted between the central bar 9 and its lip 11 and clamped therein, the teeth 12 assisting in making a firm connection. The webbing eX- tends downward and may passI through a 4-0 loop 16 from which a hosesupporter 17 of usual construction is suspended, and from the loop 16 the webbing extends upward in rear of the lower bar 6, through the slot 10,
thence upward over the central bar 9 andV rearward through the slot 13, where'it is engaged by the teeth 14, the web at this point being not only engaged by the teeth 14, but pressed against the portion of the webbing attached to the central bar, thus insuring a firm grip upon the webbing.
and said'central bar, the edgesof said slotV serving to force the vloose portion of said webbing into frictiona-l engagement with the fixed end thereof when the webbing is slack and not under tension, but permitting said loose portion to slide when tension is applied.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification.
