Description

I. GOLDBERG;
BELT RETAINER. APPLICATION FILED NOV. 11, 1am.

- n: GOLDBERQOF nliwvlonniiausfitomsma Benin-R TAINER.
' A i n-mm meammm m 17; "191-1 inialmr-eeosea- This invention relates to -devioesadapted i for attachment to the upper bandsof mensfw s cured to t d 1 3 23 I trousers rother wearing apparel for the purpose of receiving a belt and holding=thesame securely in proper position with relie tion to the .waist band of the garment, thereby dispensing with the buckles, straps. and the like usually forming parts of such garments. The objects of the invention are to pro-1 vide a device of the. character referred to. which will efliciently and reliably perform; its'intended'fun'ctio n, which will be simple! and ineXpens ive in construction and of at tractiveappearance, and which may be'em-" ployed for the purpose of partially concealing the belt. I
These and other objects of the invention,i together with'means whereby the same may i be carried into eii'ect, will 'bes tbe understood from the following description of one! form or embodiment thereof illustrated inl the accompanying drawings. It will be un- *derstood, however, that the particular con'- struction described and shown has been; chosen for illustrative purposes merely and that the invention may be embodied in other {forms without departin' from the spirit and scope thereof as de ed by the claims; ,h'ereunto appended.
In said drawing: Figure 1 is a perspec-; tive view showing the'devi'ce in operative position upon the Waist band of a pair of men s trousers. Fig. 2 is an enlar ed per- Figs. .3 and 4 "are, respectively, a perspective viewand an end elevation of the frame of the device with the covering removed.
Referring 'articularl to Figs. 3 and 4, the skeletonfii'ame oft e device is preferably constructed of wire or similar material and comprises a continuous, substantially rectangular member. whose original form is indicated in dotted lines in Figs. 3 and 4, the ends of said member being bent inwardly, as indicated at 12, to form open end Letters at nt. Patented J uly 9 1912,
of'rwhlch areconnected bythe parallel side members or bars 14 of said rectangular member.- The rectangular member above described is preferably composed of a single strand of wire, or the like'whose ends are suitably joined, as by soldering or brazing.
as indicated at. 15 in Fig. 3'; In addition to -the bars 14. the'end loops 13 amt-preferably connectedaiidi spaced by other longitudinal bars or wit-e516, arranged parallel'to' the barsltand soldered, brazed, or otherwise The; frameabove described is provided -with a covering 17 (see Figs. 1 and 2) of sheet metal or other suitable material but ,eyvhich is preferably composed of a suitable textile fabric which may be of the same manterial as the garment or otherwise, as preferred. Said covering is secured to the frame in any suitable manner, as, in the ,case of a'textile fabric, by folding the edges thereofover the end loops 13 and longitudi- '-'nal bars 14 and securing the same by stitches. FThe covering may, if desired, inclose the frame completely, but preferably will extend .from one of the longitudinal bars 14 ='about the outer side of the frame to the other of said bars, leaving the space betwen these bars at the inner side of the frame -.open or uncovered in order to facilitate the introduction of the belt into the device and its removal therefrom.
Suitable means are provided for attachiing the frame of the device to the garment. said means preferably comprising clasp pins secured to the end loops 13. As shown in :.-Figs. 3 and 4, 18 denotes pins pivoted or .otherwise secured adjacent the extremity of Zone of the inturned ends 12 of each of the loops 13, and 19 denotes guards for said igpins secured adjacent the extremities'of the ether in-turned ends 12 of said loops. The pins 18 are preferably pivoted to ears 20 soldered or otherwise secured to the frame at the points stated, and'the guards 19 are similarly secured to said framein the proper positions.
As shown in scribed is preferably constructed of such proportions as to inclose the belt for a considerable portion of its length. The belt will therefore be securely retained in proper position with respect to the garment, while the length of the supporting device is not objectionable.
loops 13, the inwardly turned portions 12 since the textile covering its tractive design, or, by forming said cover-- 7 claim:
device may be made very inconspicuous and will also serve partially itself. p n Having thus described my invention, I
to conceal the belt .1. A}? device of comprising a skeleton frame consisting of similar end members having in-turned ends on the inner side of the frame to form. open loops, and parallel longitudinal bars connecting and spacing sald members, two of said bars Connecting the extremities of the correspondin' intnrned ends of said memberspa covermg inclosingtheouter side of;
said frame and securedtdsaid last named longitudinal bars, thereby leaving a longitudinal portion at the inner side of said Gdples of this patent maybe obtained for frameluninclosed and attaching means secomprising' a wire frame consisting of a continuous rectangular member having its ends bent into the fprm of similar open v loops with its side formed by parallel long-ithe cha racter described tudrnal bars connecting the open ends of said loops and additional bars arranged parallel to said first named bars and secured to and 'connectin said loops, 'a fabric covering inclosing an secured to said frame, and clasp pins secured 'to said 100 s.
In testimony whereof. I a x my. signature,'in presence of two witnesses.
I ISAAC GOLDBERG.
