Be it known that I, ELMER V. Canister ANA,-a citizen of the United States, a resident of Kingston, in the county of Ulster and State or" New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Vises for Holding Vehicle-Lumps, of which the :t'ollowing is a specification.

My invention relates to brackets or Vises for holding automobile and carriage lamps While being polished or repaired.

The object of my invention is to produce a bracket of said character which may be adjusted toaccommodate lamps of different types and sizes, and by Which-same may be held in different positions for the-convenience of the Workman.

A further object thereof is to more simple, cheap and efficient ticlc 0 said class than has heretofore been provided.

To these ends, my invention includes the combinations and arrangement of component parts to be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings illustrating my invention in which like reference characters indicate similar parts, Figure 1 is a perspective View of my invention in use; Ihig. 2 isa similar view with the lump detached, and Fig. 3 is a plan View of the same.

Referring to, the drawings, 1 indicates a base, preferably of metal rigidly secured upon a Work bench or other support, and provided with the Vertical screw-threaded studQ. Mounted upon said stud, I provide the diametrically opposed bowed brackets or arms 3 and 4, and the lateral arm secured thereon by the thumb-nut 6. Said arms 3 and 4, as shown, comprise he horizontal portions 3 and P. the upright bowed portions 3 and l, and terminate in the heads 3 and 4 which are pierced transversely to accommodate the hooks '2 and 8 hereinafter described. The horizontal por tion 3 and 4 of said arms are provided with longitudinal slots 3 and 46 through which the threaded stud 2 projects and on which they are clamped by the out 6. extending inwardly toward each other to en age the orifices providedon lamps by wh'ch same are secured on a vehicle. It will also be appreciated that a lamp secured on said hooks Will be suspended between the bowed upright portions of the bracket or arms and t in which position it is con-- veniently held for a Workman, and that said hooks may be turned in their sockets to ad just the position of the lamp and securely held by the nuts 9 and 10.
