Abstract

Molding compositions comprising (A) at least one modified polyarylene ether having carboxyl groups and with recurring units of the formulae I and II, where x is 0.5 or 1, t and q, independently of one another, are 0, 1, 2 or 3, n is an integer from 0 to 6, each of Q, T, Y and Z, independently of one another, is a chemical bond or a group selected from the class consisting of -O-, -S-, -SO2-, S=O, C=O, -N=N-, -RaC=CRb- and -CRcRd-, where each of Ra and Rb, independently of one another, is hydrogen or C1-C12-alkyl, and each of Ra and Rb, independently of one another, is hydrogen or C1-C12-alkyl, and each of Rc and Rd, independently of one another, is hydrogen or C1-C12-alkyl, C1-C12-alkoxy or C6-C18-aryl, where Rc and Rd, independently of one another, may be substituted with fluorine and/or chlorine or, together with the carbon atom to which they are bonded, may form a C3-C12-cycloalkyl group, which may be substituted with one or more C1-C6-alkyl groups, with the proviso that at least one of the groups T, Q and Z is -SO2- or C=O and, if t and q are 0, Z is -SO2- or C=O, Ar, Ar1, Ar2 and Ar3, independently of one another, are C6-C18-arylene, substituted if desired with C1-C12-alkyl, C6-C18-aryl or C1-C12-alkoxy or halogen, and R1 is hydrogen, C1-C6-alkyl, or -(CH2)n-COOH; and where the molar ratio of units of the formula I to units of the formula II is in the range from 0.05:99.95 to 99.95:0.05, (B) if desired, at least one polyarylene ether with anhydride end groups (b1) or a polyarylene ether with epoxy end groups (b2) or a mixture of b1 and b2, (C) at least one polyarylene ether with end groups which differ from those of the polyarylene ethers (B), (D) at least one polyamide, and (E) at least one impact-modifying rubber with groups capable of reacting with carboxyl groups (e1) or a mixture of e1 and at least one impact-modifying rubber which contains no groups capable of reacting with carboxyl groups (e2).
