Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus for producing aligned carbon nanotube arrays. The apparatus includes a reacting chamber and an electrical source of direct current. The reacting chamber includes a first board of metal, which is connected to the anode of the electrical source; and a second board of metal paralleled with the first board, which is connected to the cathode of the electrical source; in addition, a substrate, which is between the two board, and the surface of the substrate where a catalyzer is formed is opposite to the second board. This invention also provides a method for producing aligned carbon nanotube arrays by making use of the apparatus. This invention has a low cost and can attain aligned carbon nanotube arrays easily.
