Abstract

The system has a muffler connected to an exhaust pipe extending from an engine. An exhaust gas catalytic converter is provided in an intermediate section of the pipe and/or in the muffler. The converter has a configuration by which the inlet and outlet pipes (55, 57) of the converter are arranged on the side of the ends of the catalyzer chamber in order to conduct-in/conduct out the exhaust gas into/from the chamber, respectively.
