Abstract

A first coating layer 52 is formed on the surface of a core particle 51 containing an iron ore by using iron containing substance and optionally SiO2 containing material. A second coating layer 53 is formed on first coating layer 52 by using a limestone and a solid fuel to produce an agglomerated particle 50. The agglomerated particles 50 are burnt to produce a sintered ore 50a. The iron containing substance for the first coating layer 52 has a porosity of 20% or less, or, a porosity of 20% or less and an Al2O3 content of 2.1 mass% or less. The iron ore for the core particle has a higher porosity than the iron containing material for the first coating layer 52, or a higher porosity than the iron containing material for the first coating layer 52 and/or a higher Al2O3 content than the iron containing material for the first coating layer 52.
