Abstract
Disclosed herein is a process for the large scale production of a liposome suspension, in which three selected lipid components in a predetermined ratio are dissolved into an alcohol solvent to form a mixture, which, in turn, is directly admixed with an aqueous ammonium sulfate solution in a predetermined ratio; the resultant mixture is subjected to a pore-extrusion treatment, followed by dialyzing the pore-extruded mixture with a 5%~15% sucrose aqueous solution, such that a liposome suspension containing liposome particles suspended therein is obtained. The thus obtained liposome suspension can be used to encapsulate a selected drug, in particular doxorubicin HCl.
