The invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy, in particular, to the development of apparatus for the production of aluminum and magnesium by the electrolysis of molten chlorides. A bipolar electrode electrolyzer for producing aluminum, equipped with almost vertically mounted carbon electrodes, is known, the inner part of the electrolyzer and the non-working surface of the electrodes is coated with a refractory electrolytic and electrolyte PT material. The disadvantages of such an electrolyzer are the uneven current distribution and the relatively low yield of metal and chlorine. The purpose of the invention is to improve the current distribution and increase the yield of metal and chlorine. The goal is achieved by the fact that the chambers are separated from one another by insulating partitions, the height of which is less than the height of the chamber, and in one of the partitions there is an electrode common to two adjacent chambers. At the same time, grooves for installing bipolar electrodes are made in the gutters, and on the upper faces of the partitions there are recesses for the melt flow. To turn the electrolyzer into the flow line, the end chambers are equipped with drainage channels for the entry and removal of the melt. Figure 1 shows the proposed electrolyzer in the horizontal: section; figure 2 - the same, in a vertical section (along aa and bb). The electrolyzer contains electrolytic chambers 1 s. They are installed with single-polar and bipolar electrodes 2 and 3, the non-working surfaces of which are covered with refractory i electrically insulating material. The cameras are separated from one another by insulating partitions 4, the height of which is less than the height of the chambers. Electrodes 5, common to two adjacent chambers, are located in the partitions, and also grooves 6 are made for mounting the remaining bipolar and unipolar electrodes. On the upper edges of the partitions there are depressions 7 for the flow of the melt from the chamber to the chamber. Extreme chambers are provided with overflow channels 8 for admission and removal of the melt. The cell is sealed by overlapping 9 with a hole 10, to adjust the electrolyte and gas
