(54) DEVICE FOR MODELING DISPLAY
FUNCTIONS Consider the operation of the circuit when modeling a function that lies entirely in the first quadrant; in the other quadrants, the operation of the circuit is similar. Let the function F (x),, to be modeled has the form shown in FIG. 2 a solid line. We assume that the function F (x) is continuous on the left and denote y -eimFM F (x.), Y, eshG | x) X-Xj-0X-jfO If F (xj at the point Xi is continuous, that is, Y; We denote by FfXj) Virtually nothing changes if we assume that F (x) is uninterrupted on the right; to talk about real modeling of functions that are not unbroken either to the left or to the right, simply does not make sense. The same applies to functions with second-type faults and to functions with an infinite number of jumps. Suppose that k is the number of digits of the analog-code converter 16 and n 2 is the number of output cells of the decoder 17. We make a piecewise linear approximation of the function F (x), including x-points in the number of nodes of the approximation, and take the equal parts n is the number of output tires of the decoder 17 (of course, this is possible only if the number of razzhovs F (x) does not exceed the number nl; for k 3,4,5 we have, respectively, n 8, 16, 32; this is almost always sufficient) . The analog-code converter 16 changes the output code at the moments when the signal at its input reaches the values of ih, i 1, 2, ... n-1, K Xm; in the initial state (with the CW), a null code combination is present at its output, and the corresponding (let's call it first) output of the decoder 17 is excited, thereby opening one key in each group of keys 10, 11, 12 and 13. Suppose, however, that the analog-code converter 16 operates at points x I 1, 2, ..., n-1 (described below as being achieved using switches 1 and 3, groups of keys 10 and 12, groups of resistors 6 and 8 ), It is clear that in this case the i-th approximation area is reproduced at the i-th excited terminal of the decoder 17. A j-th group resistor (J 1-4, i.e., respectively, groups of resistors 6, 7, 8, 9), connected with the open key, we denote by Rij. To reproduce the value of V0, it is sufficient, obviously, using switch 4 to connect the first 9th group resistor to the busbar - and set its corresponding value. The slope of the first Si approximation region is established using the first 7th group resistor connected via switch 2 to the output of the inverter 5 (as in Fig. 2 a S 0). At x Xj, the analog-code converter 16 is triggered, the second output bus of the decoder 17 is excited, the first keys of all groups are closed, now only the second keys are opened. The slope of the second section 82 is set in the same way as Si with the help of the second resistor of the 7th group connected via switch 2 to the output of inverter 5 (as in Fig. 2 a Over 0). By adjusting the resistance of the second resistor of the 9th group, equality is achieved at (i.e., immediately after the conversion of the analog-code converter 16). The initial value of Y, ikrzt: izna5 | arbitrary i-ro site. With Sj, O (the quarter section in Fig. 2 a), the corresponding resistor is grounded through the switch 2. It is clear that, since only two resistors actually work when playing the i-ro plot of the approximation, the adder 15 is in the light mode of summing the two voltages; however, the errors due to drift are small; in addition, the inaccuracy of tuning other resistors is eliminated. It is also substantial that the restructuring of the circuit to reproduce another function, which is derived from the reproducible lisch at some intervals of the argument, is considerably simplified. Indeed, the rearrangement of one plot of approximation (two resistors) does not affect the reproduction of the rest. Let us now consider how the operation of the analog-code converter 16 is achieved at an input voltage equal to X |, i.e. at the boundaries of the approximation plots. For this, it is obviously necessary to provide such a dependence x F (x) of the signal x at the input of the analog-code converter 16 on the input signal of the device x so that the condition X ih is fulfilled at X xf, i 1,2, ..., n-l. However, not all the dependence F (x), satisfying this condition, is suitable for work (it is also necessary that the condition be fulfilled only at x xi. And among the suitable ones, not all are equivalent). The simplest, perhaps, is the function F (x); shown in FIG. 2 b solid line. This function, however, intersects different levels of ih with different steepness, which may cause some instability in the operation of the circuit. Using the phonetic function f (x) with jumps at points x; (it is easy to see that, in view of the necessary condition indicated in the season, the jumps can only be positive) it is possible to ensure the same steepness of the intersection of F (x) with the levels ih for all i. If there is some optimal slope, the use of the empty function F (x) makes it possible to approach it in one way or another (for example, if the optimal slope is 45 °, in Figure 2b it can be achieved in the fourth, fifth and sixth sections ( dashed line), Function F (x) is reproduced quite similarly to F (x) using switches 1, 3, groups of keys 10 and 12, groups of resistors 6 and 8; the same elements are used - inverter 5, analog-code converter 16 and decoder 17. The presence of switches in the circuit allows reproducing functions in all ex quadrants.
Obviously, a special case of the operation of the device is the simulation of a wide class of continuous functions, and the interpolation nodes can be arbitrarily located.
