Description

The method of glass fiber reinforcement of transparent or matted films is known.

It is also known to use for this purpose casting machines, by means of which a layer of a solution of film-forming substances is applied to a glass cloth tape.

The main disadvantage of the known glass fiber reinforcement method is the incomplete removal of air from the glass fabric, which reduces the quality of the reinforced films.

A method is proposed for making clear or matt glass fiber films. The method consists in impregnating a ribbon of glass cloth, in order to remove air from its cells, with a thin solution, wring out, and then passing through a solution of film-forming substances with higher viscosity.

To implement this method, it is proposed to adapt a conventional casting mask for making a film with a spinneret, for which a cuvette with a guide roller for dipping the tape into a low viscosity solution is placed in front of it, and a movable roller is located in the die itself to adjust the thickness of the layer applied to the tape as it leaves dies.

The advantage of the proposed method is to obtain a film without the presence of air in its composition, as well as the possibility of providing a given film thickness with a smooth or matte surface.

The drawing shows an exemplary adaptation to a known mask for making glass-fiber reinforced films.

The glass fiber tape from the roll / enters the tank 2, filled with a low-viscosity solution of film-forming substances, then passes through the squeezing rollers 3 and is fed into the spinneret 4, inside which rotating rollers are mounted for the passage of the tape. One of the rollers 5 is fixed and serves to guide the belt, and the other roller 6 is made to move in the vertical direction
