Description

For slow cooling of matte, heat insulated rectangular molds with lids or ladles (shot glasses) are used. Rectangular molds are cumbersome, require large areas, the matte cooling time in them is 10-15 days and, in addition, sulfide differentiation occurs in such molds, which negatively affects the subsequent flotation separation of matte.

The proposed mold for cooling and crystallization of matte makes it possible to eliminate these drawbacks, reduce the total, cooling surface and ensure the formation of larger Feinstein crystals. This is achieved by the fact that the mold is made in the form of two detachable truncated cones interconnected by large bases, with the small base of the lower cone serving as the bottom of the mold, and through the small base of the upper Heron cone a matte fill is produced.

In the drawing, the proposed mold in the section.

It consists of a reinforced concrete or steel casing (inside which graphite or cylindrical lining 2 is laid. Magnesite or graphite powder 3 is poured on its upper edge. 2. To extract and transport the hardened in the mold; Matte 5 is a suspension 6 with hook holes. The proposed insolation makes it possible to obtain coarse grains of copper sulfide crystals and nigel during the cooling period up to 200 °, equal to 5 days.
