The invention relates to equipment for magnetic separation of substances and can be used for magnetic separation of substances and removal of the concentrated ferromagnetic dispersed phase from liquid media in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and chemical industry.
The purpose of the invention is to increase the efficiency of the separation process.
Figure 1 shows the electromagnetic separator hub; figure 2 - the first pole tip, the cross-section.
The separator contains a working chamber 1, bounded by a cylindrical non-magnetic body 2 with connections for supplying the original 3 and discharging the purified 4 liquid, a magnetic system consisting of an electric coil 5 and a magnetic circuit, which in turn consists of pole plates 6, a casing 7, the first 8 and second 9 pole tips containing inserts 10 made of a material with high magnetic permeability (permalloy, alsifer). The first pole tip has longitudinal holes 1 1, between which ferromagnetic wires 12 are fixed along their entire length, which can also be made of a material characterized by increased magnetic permeability. The ends of the wires near the working gap are sharp. The gaps between adjacent wires are narrowed as they approach the working area due to the constancy of the pole tip. Inside the cavity, holes 13 are made, which have a slit-like shape and are connected to the inner channel of the 14-pole tip, which do not have access to the working area, and are connected to the pipe 15 to collect coarsely purified liquid. The second pole tip contains an internal channel 16 connected to the nozzle 17 for removal of the concentrated product. The housing is provided with a guide protrusion 18 in which an electrical winding 18 is placed, connected to an alternating current source.

1.between pole tips 8 and 9, a powerful magnetic field is created which, due to the shape of pole tips 8 and 9, the presence of highly permeable inserts 10 and the small size of the working gap, is characterized by a high gradient directed from the guide protrusion 18 to the center of the working gap. Part of the magnetic field is dissipated by the side surface of the pole piece 8 due to its conicity. An electrical winding 19, connected to an alternating current circuit, also creates an alternating magnetic field in the working chamber 1.
The separation medium through the nozzle 3 is fed into the working chamber 1, where it passes near the surface of the pole tip 8, which dissipates a part of the magnetic flux. Ferromagnetic wires and grooves provide non-uniformity of the pole tip of the magnetic field scattered by the lateral surface, therefore the coarse fraction of the dispersed phase is deposited on the surface of the wires, especially in the gaps between adjacent wires, and the largest particles are deposited first. Thus, a liquid, largely released from the ferromagnetic phase, enters the recesses 11, from where it is discharged through the sipe holes 13, the internal channel 14 and the nozzle 15. In the next section of the pole tip, the velocity of the separated medium decreases by the flow rate ejected from the first row of holes, the efficiency of the operation will increase, and the fluid being withdrawn through the second row of holes will be cleaned more efficiently and deeply.
19,Thus, a working fluid enters the working zone, the flow rate of which is reduced by the amount of extraction through the nozzle 15. Fine particles at the entrance to the working zone are subjected to a force applied by the field directed to the center of the gap; pipe 17. The coarsely dispersed ferromagnetic particles deposited on wires are brought into oscillatory motion by means of an alternating magnetic field formed by the winding 19,
4.which provides them with greater mobility and, therefore, they move along the surface of the wires under the action of an increasing magnetic field scattered by the surface of the pole tip, an increasing magnetic field between adjacent wires due to the reduction of the gap between them, and because of the attracting flow of the liquid to be cleaned. When they reach the tapered ends of the wires, they are broken and deposited towards the center of the working gap, where they are also output through the internal channel 16 and the pipe 17 in the general flow of the concentrated product. The liquid medium freed from the ferromagnetic phase is discharged through the pipe 4.
