A phase noise meter for microwave amplifiers5 containing a master microwave generator, a directional repeater, the outputs of which are connected to the inputs of the signal and reference channels, is known. The signal channel consists of a directional coupler, one of the outputs of which is connected by a measured microwave amplifier, which output through an attenuator connected to one of the inputs of a three-junction slotted bridge, and the second output of the second coupler through an attenuator and phase shifter is connected to the second input of a three-junction slotted bridge, output which is the output of the signal channel and through the third directional coupler and attenuator is connected to the SBCH mixer input, the reference channel contains serially connected phase shifter and attenuator connected between the second output of the first directional coupler and the second input of the third directional coupler, and the output of the microwave mixer is connected to the selective input the amplifier with the output indicator 11 3 The disadvantage of this meter is the dependence of the sensitivity of the phase noise measurement of the microwave amplifier on exactly its output power. For low-power microwave input amplifiers, it may be insufficient and limited by the low-frequency flicker noise of the microwave mixer. The closest to the present invention is a phase noise meter containing a master microwave generator5 whose output is connected to the input of a directional coupler, the outputs of which are connected to the inputs of the reference and signal channels, while the reference channel consists of a series-connected attenuator, mixes, and an intermediate frequency amplifier It a phase shifter, and a signal channel connected in series to a second attenuator, a measured amplifier, a third attenuator, a mixer, and an intermediate frequency amplifier, with the supports s inputs of the mixers of both channels through a second directional coupler connected to the local oscillator, & the outputs of the reference and signal channels are connected to the corresponding inputs of the phase detector, the output of which is connected to the low-frequency spectrum analyzer t2J. However, the limiting sensitivity of measuring the phase noise of microwave amplifiers by this measure is limited by the low frequency noise of balanced mixers and low frequency fluctuations of the oscillation phase of the oscillator and microwave heterodyne, which are not completely suppressed on the phase detector due to the weak identity of the phase frequency characteristics of the signal and reference channels. oscillations of the microwave generator and the heterodyne to the inputs of the phase detector pass through. The purpose of the invention is to increase the measurement sensitivity. The goal is achieved by the fact that the phase noise meter of microwave amplifiers contains a master oscillator, the output of which is connected through the directional coupler to the inputs of two channels, the first channel contains an attenuator and a phase shifter, and the second channel contains the second attenuator, measured by the amplifier, in series connected third, attenuator, mixer and intermediate frequency amplifier, while the output of the second channel is connected to the signal input of the phase detector, the output is connected to the input of the low-frequency analyzer with The third channel is additionally introduced; it consists of a serially connected modulator, a fourth attenuator and a second phase shifter, the output of which is connected to the reference input of the phase detector, the second output of the modulator being connected to the control input of the measured amplifier, and to the second channel the second directional .end, indicator, ferrite valve, the third directional coupler and high-frequency spectrum analyzer, in the first channel - the delay line, the input of which is connected to one of the outputs of the first direction successively connected attenuator and phase shifter are connected to the heterodyne input of the mixer, while the second output of the first directional coupler is connected via a serially connected second attenuator and the second directional coupler.connected to the input of the measured amplifier, the output of which is connected through the serially connected ferrite gate and the third directional coupler connected to the input the third attenuator, and the indicator is connected to the second output of the second directional coupler, and t is connected to the second output its directional coupler - high-frequency spectrum analyzer. The drawing shows the block diagram of the device. The phase noise meter of the microwave amplifiers contains a master oscillator 1, through a directional coupler 2 and the second attenuator 3 and the second directional coupler 4 connected in series to the signal input of the measured amplifier 5, to the control input of which the modulator 6 is connected, and the output connected via serially connected ferrite valve 7, the third directional coupler 8, the third attenuator 9 to the signal input of the mixer 10, the heterodyne input of which through the serially connected line 11 back The first attendee ator 12 and the phase shifter 13 are connected to the second output of the directional response of the Vitel 2, while the indicator 14 is connected to the second output of the second directional coupler 4, and the second output of the directional coupler 8 is connected to the high-frequency analyzer 15 of the mixer, output of the mixer 10 through the amplifier 16 intermediate frequency (IFA) is connected to the signal input of the phase detector 17, the reference input of which is connected through an attenuator 18 connected in series and phase shifted. The driver 19 is connected to the second step of the modulator 6, and the low-frequency analyzer 20 of the spectrum is connected to the output of the phase detector 17. The meter works as follows. The oscillations of the master oscillator 1 are fed through a directional coupler, an attenuator 3 and a second directional coupler 4 to a measurable amplifier 5. An amplitude-adjustable sinusoidal voltage with a frequency of the order of 0.1-1 is supplied to one of the electrodes of the amplifier 5. , 0 MHz. The level of this voltage is chosen so that due to the modulation of the phase in the signal spectrum at the output of the amplifier, the component of the carrier frequency is absent. From the output of the amplifier 5, the microwave oscillations through the ferrite valve 7, the directional coupler 8 and the attenuator 9 are fed to the mixer 10. A heterogeneous signal to this mixer is supplied from the sticking generator 1 through the directional coupler 2, the delay line 1.1, the attenuator 12 and the phases. Turner 13. The signal level applied to the amplifier under test is monitored using a directional coupler 4 and an indicator 14. Carrier suppression is monitored using a spectrum analyzer 15. The modulated spectrum component with the modulation frequency and with side components around it is separated by IFCO 16, oscillations from the output of which are supplied to the phase detector 17. Reference oscillations to the phase detector 17 are supplied, from the modulator 6 through the attenuator 18 and the phase shifter 19. The voltage from the output of the phase detector 17, proportional to the phase noise of the measured amplifier 5, is analyzed by the spectrum by a low-frequency spectrum analyzer 20. The spectral densities of these noises are measured by the output device low peculiarity. analyzer 20 spectrum and then calibration. The powers of the signals measured and heterogeneous) applied to the mixer 10 are controlled by the currents of the mixer diodes, which are set by attenuators 9 and 12 within the limits of permissible values. Meter Setup: In order not to overload the mixer diodes and the microwave amplifier under test, before switching on the generator 1 attenuators 3, 9 and 12 are introduced for complete attenuation. After switching on all the instruments, the meter attenuator 3 sets the nominal value of the input power of the amplifier 5. By adjusting the output voltage of the module Torus 6 achieves carrier suppression, as observed by a spectrum on a high frequency spectrum analyzer 15. Attenuators 9 and 12 set the nominal values of the power supplied to the mixer, which is controlled by the currents of the mixer diodes. By controlling the gain of the IFA 16 and the attenuator with an ator 18, the signals at the inputs of the phase detector 17 are equal, which is controlled by an oscilloscope connected to these inputs. The phase shifter 19 sets the zero value of the constant component of the current at the output of the phase detector 17, which is controlled by the built-in phase detector circuit with a measuring device. The spectrum analyzer 20 measures the phase noise spectrum of the tested SSCH force. The calibration of the meter is carried out by any of the known methods, in particular, by an additional low-frequency modulation of the test subject with amplifiers with a known small index or phase shifter 19, which has been pre-calibrated. In the first case, the modulation index is determined as follows. The voltage of the phase modulation of the microwave amplifier, at which the carrier frequency is suppressed, is recorded. Then the slope of the modulation characteristic of the amplifier under test is S 2.405 - effect, where and is the effective value of the amplification coefficient m efl, at which the carrier frequency is suppressed. The modulation index sought is .1 SV. where is the effective value of the low-frequency voltage of the phase amplifier under test (i, fd, U) In the second case, the phase detector 17 is deduced from the balance state by the calibrated phase shifter 19. The voltage level and the phase shifter 19 are determined by the voltage level of the phase shifter 19 slope characteristics of the phase detector 17. The measured noise is determined by spectral analysis of the voltage at the output of the phase detector. The effective voltage values recorded by the spectrum analyzer 20 at each frequency of the analysis are characteristics of the phase detector. The obtained result is squared and divided into the frequency band of the analyzer of the spectrum analyzer 20. The technical advantages of the proposed phase noise meter of the microwave amplifiers before the lime meters are as follows: that the amplified oscillations by means of their additional phase modulation with the suppression of a non-resistive frequency are transferred to the frequency range where the noise of the microwave mixers is less, and the phase detection of this signal la is performed at the modulation frequency. The reliability of the circuit is improved, since an accidental imbalance of the phases in the suppression circuit of the carrier frequency of the increased power leads to the combustion of the mixer. In the proposed scheme, the easily maintained stability of the modulating voltage is of the order sufficient to ensure a stable absence of a component of the carrier frequency with a power less than a few milliwatts in the signal at the output of the amplifier under test. The proposed meter can be used to measure the phase noise of pin-attenuators, power limiters and a number of other elements of the microwave tractors, which include between the attenuator 9 and the mixer 10.. They can measure the amplitude noise of the microwave amplifiers and these devices, for which the phase shifter 13 establishes the phase response at the mixer of the heterodyne and measured signals, and instead of the phase detector 17, an amplitude detector is used at the output of the IFC 16.
