Na področju izdelave smuči in podobnih drsalnih priprav so znani različni načini izdelave po konstrukcijski plati različno zasnovanih izdelkov te vrste. Sodobna smučka je zasnovana kot prožen upogibno obremenjen nosilec in na svoji spodnji površini obsega drsno plast, ki je ob straneh v vzdolžni smeri smučke obdana z robnikoma.
