Abstract

The procedure consists of cutting out the fins (1) to the required shape with a blanking die, at the same time cutting holes (3) for the pipes carrying the heat transfer agent and the outlines of spacers (2) which connect adjacent fins and ensure the correct distances between them. After the spacers have been bent at right angles to the surface of the fin their tips can engage with the holes left by the bent spacers in the adjacent fin, fixing the fins together with the required spacing and ensuring alignment of the holes (3) for the pipes. The shape of the spacers can also be designed to control the direction of the air flow between the fins.
