Abstract
Workpieces are mounted for hardening by heat treatment of an expanding mandrel (1) with internal or external taper made up of individual segments in the form of lamellae (4). The lamellae are pref. displaceable transverse to the axis of the taper and are held in guides (3). They may be subjected to preloading by the action of a spring (7), which forms a ring connecting them. The end faces of the lamellae form a supporting surface for the workpiece (6).
