Abstract

The surface to be worked is insulated from a surrounding medium, e.g. water by a cover contg. an electrode connected to one pole of a current source, so that a closed chamber is formed by the cover and the surface. An electrolyte is fed to the interior of the cover through a prim. conduit, and is fed away again via a sec. conduit. The surface to be prepared is connected to the other pole of the current source so that an electrolytic process may take place. The current source used is a spark generator or a power source for electrolytic working, and on completion of the electrolytic process, the electrode is disconnected from the current source, as is the now worked surface, and the electrolyte is fed away for re-use.
