Abstract

The apparatus comprises a second sheave block (20) movably suspended from a first sheave block by a line (22), and a motion compensator (34, 36) connected to the second block (20) to substantially prevent transmission of motion, such as marine wave motion, from the block (20) to a load carried thereby. A fluid actuated booster piston-cylinder assembly (66) is interconnected with the motion compensator to substantially change the force pattern developed during a compensating movement, whereby to permit greater loads to be carried for the same range of movement of the motion compensator (26). <IMAGE>
