Abstract

The double-walled, heat-exchange tube comprises a corrugated outer pipe (12) and an inner pipe (10) in good metallic contact with each other. The outer surface of the inner pipe contains a number of intersecting grooves (11), so that any heat-exchange medium leaking into the space between the pipes can flow towards a leakage indicator at one end. Bosses (14) on the inside of the inner pipe generate turbulence in it. The tube is produced by inserting the grooved inner pipe in the outer one, after which the corrugations are formed in the outer surface of the latter. This produces ridges on the inside which press against the inner pipe to give the good metallic contact.
