Abstract

The invention relates to the welding and deburring of chain links prebent in the form of a C and joined to form a chain, the process taking place in a single pass of the chain through a welding and deburring station. The chain links each belong alternately to one of two groups. The welding or deburring of one link of one group of links is performed simultaneously with the deburring or welding of a link of the other group. A system for the manufacture of a chain is equipped with a welding station (1) and a deburring station (6), which are set up opposite one another. A vertical axle is mounted in the centre between the stations, about which axle two horizontal arms (10, 11) can be pivoted. The two arms are each equipped with a device for clamping (29, 30) and positioning (25, 26, 27, 28, 49, 56) the chain link (58, 60) to be processed of the corresponding group and with a device (33, 34) for the stepwise advance of the chain.
