Abstract

The evaporator has cascades, each cascade step being formed by heating tubes (11, 11', 12) arranged substantially vertically one above the other. In this way, a good, area-specific evaporation performance is achieved, and the space requirement of the evaporator (1'') is reduced as compared with conventional falling-film evaporators. In drying devices which have a plurality of autoclaves, a helical evaporator (1'') is preferably used in which the heating tubes (11, 11', 12) are helically arranged in a cylindrical vessel (15). In drying devices which operate with only one autoclave, the heating tubes can be arranged on a plate, it being possible for such evaporators to be built directly into the autoclave. <IMAGE>
