Abstract

A valve, e.g. for kitchen or bathroom taps, comprises sleeve means 24, 48 having inlet and outlet ports 49, 42 and a stem 20 rotatably movable within the sleeve means. The stem 20 has inlet and outlet ports 34, 36 with the outlet port movable into registration with the sleeve outlet port. A fixed seal member 44 is positioned on the sleeve means to seal the stem outlet port 36 when the valve is in a closed position as shown. The fixed seal member may extend diagonally across the sleeve means (Fig. 13). The sleeve means and stem are latched together by a key 76 which permits rotation but not axial movement of the stern. Alternatively, the elements of the sleeve means are latched together by tongues (190) on the inner element engaging with slots (188) in flexible portions of the outer element (Figs. 17, 18). The sleeve means and stem may have two outlet ports (Figs. 11, 12). <IMAGE>
