Abstract
This device is arranged in the container wall in order to reduce an internal pressure prevailing in a container, preferably a container (5) of an electrochemical element, and, in a deformation region (11, 12) of said container wall, has at least one weak-point zone (13) which tears in the event of expansion resulting from excessive internal pressure. In order to achieve very precise matching to the desired bursting pressure despite low production costs, hermetic sealing and corrosion resistance, the weak-point zone (15) is slightly deformed and is provided between two adjacent deformed regions (11, 12) of the container wall. If the predetermined container internal pressure is exceeded, the two deformed regions (11, 12) are expanded and the weak-point zone (13) located between them is subjected to expansion until it fractures. <IMAGE>
