Abstract

The support arm has two arm parallelograms which are connected to one another in a jointed fashion, are mutually balanced and each consists of at least two hollow rods (2, 3; 5, 6) which are pivotably connected at their ends to a jointed part (1, 4; 4, 7). One rod (3, 5) each of each arm parallelogram contains a spring element (10, 13), one end of which is supported in the interior of said spring element. The other end of each of the spring elements acts on a sliding member (11, 15), which is arranged displaceably in the rod and is connected to the adjacent jointed part (4) via movable connecting means (12, 14). One (10) of these spring elements is tensioned, while the other (13) is compressed. The sliding member (15) subjected to compression by its spring element is supported against one end of a rigid connecting part (14) whose other end is pivotably mounted in the assigned jointed part (4). It is possible by using such a support arm to achieve balancing within a relatively large operating range, and the force-transmitting parts are not provided on the outside and thus less exposed to damage and dirt. <IMAGE>
