1,082,868. Camera shutters and diaphragms. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Oct. 14, 1965 [Oct. 19, 1964; May 24, 1965], No. 43601/65. Headings G2A and G2E. A unitary exposure controlling device is made of a resilient plastics sheet of say, polypropylene, and comprises two oppositely movable vanes 11 flexibly inter-connected at 15 and having aperture forming notches 12, a portion 13 which receives mounting pin 14', and a drive portion 16 which receives a manually or photo-electrically operated sensing member 19 and which is flexibly interconnected to vanes 11 at 18. Movement of drive portion 16 controls the size of the aperture as parts 15 and 18 flex. Member 19 may be arranged to contact a trapped galvanometer pointer. Various shapes of the device are disclosed and multi-vane systems are described. Linear or rotational displacements of member 19 are used in different embodiments. The device may be used as a shutter in cine cameras owing to the rapid recovery of the vanes to the undisplaced position. A doubleapertured version may be used in stereo cameras.
