1,189,215. Disc refiners. BELOIT CORP. 7 July, 1967 [15 Aug., 1966], No. 31489/67. Heading B2A. The exposed area of the outer face 10b of a refining disc 10 is greater than that of the inner face 10a which has the shaft 17 secured to it. Thus hydraulic pressure of the stock will act on a smaller area on the face 10a than 10b. To balance hydraulic forces the rotor has inlet passages 20. Stock inlet is at 18 and outlet at 19. Equalisation is due to the pressure drop across the passages.
