Abstract

1,254,831. Packages. TETRA PAK A.B. 12 Jan., 1970 [13 Jan., 1969], No. 1390/70. Heading B8C. In a parallel-epipedic package, filled, e.g. with milk and shaped originally from a tube to form side and end walls 11, 12 and 13, respectively, and sealing fins 14, which are flattened against the end walls and extend into four double-walled triangular-shaped flaps 15 only one of which is shown, a rectangular emptying slot 16 extends parallel to, and to one side of, the fin 14 in the upper end wall 13, into the outer wall of said one double-walled flaps 15 and up to a triangular cut-out 19 which passes through both walls of the flap 15 at an outer edge thereof. The slot 16 and an air vent 21 are covered by a sealing strip 22 which extends along one side of the upper fin 14 along the flap 15 and around its outer edge to extend, on its underside, parallel to the edge 18 of the end wall 13 before being folded up around the edge of the flap to continue on the outside over the end wall 13 on the opposite side of the fin 14. The part of the strip 22 on the underside of the flap 15 is stuck to the corresponding side wall 12. After the strip 22, which has a pull tab 23, has been ripped off the container the flap 15 forms a pouring spout. The two walls of the flap 15 are preferably sealed together at least on the side of the slot 16 which is adjacent the fin 14 and preferably also along the other side along the weld 25.
