SUBSTANCE: identification system provides for pieces supply with labels, following supervision of pieces group, for example, logs, sea transportation containers or post packs in route, notice about current location of identified pieces during their transportation, treatment and storage. System of identification uses machine reading labels (400, 500) for identification and reading pieces labels on complex background. The labels (400, 500) have edge signs, that are different from inner information signs and are used to determine location. Standard edge signs are presented as a row of small and as a rule similar marks of colored or empty ovals type, or single circumference, or part of circumference, or a row of location identifying symbols. Standard information signs are presented as points, dashes, rings or used in the region letters. To minimize amount of errors encoding by different codes and spatial signs repetition (for example, latin square) are used.
