Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a technology for producing nanostructured zinc oxide doped with copper, which can be used as a photocatalyst.
(Changle Wu et al. Solvothermal synthesis of Cu-doped ZnO nanowires with visible light-driven photocatalytic activity. Materials Letters 74 (2012) 236–238).Known solvothermal method for obtaining nanowires of ZnO doped with Cu, in which NaOH was added dropwise to a stoichiometric mixture of salts Zn(NO 3 ) 2 6H 2 O and Cu(NO 3 ) 2 3H 2 O, dissolved in ethanol, with stirring, dropwise added NaOH and kept at room temperature temperature; the mixture was then heated at 120 °C for 12 hours in a Teflon coated stainless steel autoclave. The formed precipitate was filtered, washed with distilled water, then with ethanol, and finally dried in air at 80°C for 12 h. driven photocatalytic activity Materials Letters 74 (2012) 236–238).
3%.Significant disadvantages of the method are multi-stage, the need to use special equipment (autoclave), as well as the limited content of doping dopant in zinc oxide, not exceeding 3%.
Показана высокая активность разложения метиленового синего (Qun Ma et al. Cu doped ZnO hierarchical nanostructures: morphological evolution and photocatalytic property. Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics (2019) 30:2309–2315).A known method of obtaining nanostructured copper-doped zinc oxide. To obtain ZnO doped with Cu, appropriate amounts of copper acetate monohydrate were added to a solution containing 0.1 M zinc acetate dihydrate or 0.24 M zinc citrate and 0.5 M sodium hydroxide, and kept the suspension for 2 hours at room temperature. The resulting precipitate was separated by centrifugation, washed repeatedly to remove impurities with deionized water and anhydrous ethanol, and then dried in an oven at 60°C in air overnight. The Cu-doped ZnO product had the morphology of lamellar spheres, the size of which increases with increasing copper concentration. The degree of copper doping is limited to 5%. A high activity of methylene blue decomposition has been shown (Qun Ma et al. Cu doped ZnO hierarchical nanostructures: morphological evolution and photocatalytic property. Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics (2019) 30:2309–2315).
Недостатками известного способа являются, во-первых, ограниченная область допирования медью – до 5%, во-вторых, получение продукта в высокодисперсном неструктурированном состоянии, что негативно сказывается как на процессе фотокатализа (низкая смачиваемость катализатора раствором), так и на процессе извлечения катализатора после катализа (образование суспензий).The disadvantages of the known method are, firstly, the limited area of doping with copper - up to 5%, and secondly, obtaining the product in a highly dispersed unstructured state, which negatively affects both the photocatalysis process (low wettability of the catalyst with a solution) and the process of extracting the catalyst after catalysis (formation of suspensions).
Метод позволяет получить высокодисперсные неструктурированные порошки оксида цинка, допированного медью (Патент US 8623220, МПК B01J 35/00, год 2014).A known method of obtaining copper-doped zinc oxide nanoparticles by dissolving in specified molar ratios of zinc nitrate hexahydrate Zn(NO 3 ) 2 6H 2 O, copper nitrate trihydrate Cu(NO 3 ) 2 3H 2 O and cyclohexylamine (C 6 H 13 N) in deionized water on a magnetic stirrer and keeping the mixture for one week at room temperature to form a precipitate, which was then filtered through fritted filters, washed abundantly with water and dried under vacuum for a day. After drying, the precipitate was additionally kept in deionized water with stirring on a magnetic stirrer for one day to remove any impurities, filtered again, dried in air, and calcined at 500°C for three hours. The method allows to obtain highly dispersed unstructured powders of zinc oxide doped with copper (Patent US 8623220, IPC B01J 35/00, year 2014).
The disadvantages of the method include duration (more than 1 week) and multi-stage process. The final product is unstructured, which makes it difficult to use it in the catalysis process.
Наиболее близким к заявленному является способ получения нанотрубок оксида цинка, допированного медью. Способ включает растворение стехиометрических количеств формиатов цинка Zn(HCOO)2·2H2O и меди Cu(HCOO)2·2H2O в этиленгликоле и нагревание до выделения из раствора осадка. Полученный осадок отделяют вакуумной фильтрацией, промывают обезвоженным ацетоном, сушат и затем прокаливают при температуре 350-400°C. Конечный продукт представляет собой твердый раствор Zn1-xCuxO, где 0.005≤х≤0.2, с морфологией частиц в виде нанотрубок (Патент RU 2451579; МПК B22F9/24, C22B 19/34; B22B 3/00; год 2012), который может быть использован в качестве фотокатализатора.Closest to the claimed is a method of obtaining nanotubes of zinc oxide doped with copper. The method includes dissolving stoichiometric amounts of zinc formate Zn(HCOO) 2 ·2H 2 O and copper Cu(HCOO) 2 ·2H 2 O in ethylene glycol and heating until the precipitate is separated from the solution. The resulting precipitate is separated by vacuum filtration, washed with anhydrous acetone, dried and then calcined at a temperature of 350-400°C. The final product is a solid solution of Zn 1-x Cu x O, where 0.005≤х≤0.2, with particle morphology in the form of nanotubes (Patent RU 2451579; IPC B22F9/24, C22B 19/34;
The disadvantages of the known method include the impossibility of obtaining nanoparticles of a different morphology than in the form of nanotubes.
Thus, the authors were faced with the task of developing a simple and reliable method for obtaining a photocatalyst based on copper-doped zinc oxide in the form of other morphological forms that provide an increase in the active surface of the photocatalyst and, consequently, its photocatalytic activity.
The problem is solved in the proposed method for obtaining a photocatalyst based on nanostructured zinc oxide doped with copper, including the introduction of a mixture of an oxygen-containing zinc compound and an oxygen-containing copper compound into ethylene glycol, vacuum filtration, washing with acetone, drying and subsequent calcination, in which a mixture of crystalline zinc oxide and crystalline carbonate copper, taken in a stoichiometric ratio, is added to ethylene glycol containing concentrated formic acid in an amount of 9 - 14 vol% of the total volume of ethylene glycol, and preheated to 50 ° C, while ethylene glycol is taken in excess of 10-15% of the stoichiometric ratio of the mixture of oxide zinc and copper carbonate.
Currently, there is no known method for producing a photocatalyst based on zinc oxide doped with copper in the form of nanofibers or nanospheres using as initial mixtures of crystalline zinc oxide and crystalline copper carbonate with the addition of ethylene glycol containing concentrated formic acid in the amount of 9 - 14 vol% of the total volume of ethylene glycol.
The proposed method makes it possible to maximally simplify the production of a photocatalyst based on copper-doped nanostructured zinc oxide in various morphological forms with a dopant concentration of up to 20% from available reagents with the exception of the structural instability of the intermediate product. The proposed method makes it possible to obtain copper-doped zinc oxide nanoparticles with the morphology of nanofibers and nanospheres, which makes it possible to increase the active surface of the photocatalyst, and, consequently, its photocatalytic activity. As is known, zinc oxide belongs to the class of semiconductor materials that catalyze low-temperature oxidation processes with the help of sunlight quanta. The main disadvantage of defect-free ZnO is that it is only photoactive under harsh ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The addition of copper cations makes it possible to expand the range of photoactivity to the visible range of the spectrum (photoreactions occur under sunlight). Obtaining a photocatalyst in the form of nanostructured forms (fibers or spheres), the author managed to significantly increase its working surface, which also significantly increases the photoefficiency of the material. In addition, the method proposed by the authors creates conditions for the formation of intrinsic ZnO structural defects, which also have a positive effect on photocatalysis. Obtained in accordance with the proposed method, the material Zn 1-x Cu x O, where 0.02 ≤x≤0.20, was tested in the decomposition reaction of the toxic organic substance benzene-1,4-diol (hydroquinone, GC) under irradiation in the blue or UV ranges. The material showed high values of photoactivity in both light ranges (Fig. 1). The photocatalyst obtained by the proposed method, due to the morphological features of the composition, also showed high efficiency in the oxidation of As(III) (Fig. 2), taking into account the fact that the oxidation of arsenic from the trivalent to pentavalent state requires more stringent conditions than the decomposition of organic impurities.
Получают фотокатализатор на основе цинка, допированного медью, состава Zn 1-хCuхO, где 0.02≤х≤0.2.The proposed method can be implemented as follows. A mixture of crystalline zinc oxide and crystalline copper carbonate, taken in a stoichiometric ratio, is added to ethylene glycol containing concentrated formic acid in an amount of 9 - 14 vol% of the total volume of ethylene glycol, and preheated to 50 ° C, while ethylene glycol is taken in excess of 10 - 15% of the stoichiometric ratio of the mixture of zinc oxide and copper carbonate. The resulting precipitate (in this case, the reaction proceeds almost instantly without the need for any exposure) is subjected to vacuum filtration, washed with acetone, dried at a
