Abstract
Description
The invention relates to organic chemistry, to the field of producing monohydric alcohols by the reduction of carbonyl compounds with hydrogen, namely, to hydrogenation of acetone to isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is widely used as an octane enhancing additive for gasoline, anti-icing liquid, solvent in the production of surfactants, plasticizers, oil additives, medical preparations, etc.
10.11.1995.A known method for the production of IPA by hydrogenation of acetone with hydrogen on heterogeneous catalysts, in particular, based on a copper-chromium or nickel-chromium composition. The process is carried out using pure hydrogen at a temperature of 100-250 ° C, more often at a temperature of 130-160 ° C, the molar ratio of hydrogen: acetone = (3-5): 1, at atmospheric or elevated pressure. The degree of conversion of acetone is 97.6-100% per pass. RU 2047590 C1, publ. 11/10/1995.
09.05.2006.The results of the liquid-phase hydrogenation of acetone using a nickel-chrome sponge catalyst providing a conversion of 99.9% acetone at a temperature of 80-160 ° C are shown in US patent 7041857 B1, publ. 05/09/2006.
27.11.2006.A known method of hydrogenating acetone to IPA in the presence of a nickel catalyst with a molar ratio of hydrogen: acetone (1.5: 1) to (5: 1) when carrying out the process in the liquid phase at a temperature of 110 ° C, the conversion of acetone was 96.4%. RU 2288210 C2, publ. 11/27/2006.
27.01.2005.A known method of hydrogenating acetone to IPA with hydrogen in the liquid phase in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst on a neutral support, preferably a nickel-containing catalyst on a support from α-alumina, is carried out at least two stages at a temperature of from 60 to 140 ° C, at a pressure of from 20 up to 50 atm and a molar ratio of hydrogen: acetone equal to (1.5-1): 1. The reactor of the first stage can be circulating, and the second stage can be tubular. Acetone with a water content of less than 1.0 mass% is hydrogenated. This ensures that the process with high selectivity with the production of isopropyl alcohol with an impurity concentration of less than 300 ppm The values of the achieved conversions or the yield of the IPA are not reported. RU 2245320 C2, publ. 01/27/2005.

Mechanisms for activation of hydrogen and hydrogenation of acetone to isopropanol and of carbon oxides to methanol over copper-containing oxide catalysts. Catalysis Today. 1999, v. 51, p. 457-467 and Rahman A. Catalytic Hydrogenation of Acetone to Isopropanol: An Environmentally Benign Approach. Bulletin of Chemical Reaction Engineering & Catalysis. 2010, v. 5, No. 2, p. 113-126 summarizes the achievements in the field of hydrogenation of acetone to isopropyl alcohol using copper catalysts: metallic copper and oxides CuO and Cu 2 O, which demonstrate high conversions and selectivity.
The disadvantage of all of the above methods is the high cost of “pure” hydrogen used as a hydrogenating gas, requiring an expensive stage of separation from gas mixtures and purification from undesirable impurities.
10.06.2003.Known liquid-phase method for the hydrogenation of acetone at a temperature of 50-130 ° C and a pressure of 1.0-2.0 MPa, on two types of catalysts - Raney nickel and nickel-chrome, carried out in two successive reaction zones in film mode, with recycling of part of the reaction mixture in the first zone and direct-feed reactants into the second zone. Moreover, in the first zone, the process is conducted in a countercurrent liquid-gas. RU 2205818 C1, publ. 06/10/2003.
20.11.2012. Найдено в Интернет: http://stud.wiki/chemistry/3c0b65625a2bd68b5c43b88521216c26_0.htmlIt is known to obtain IPA by hydrogenation of acetone in the liquid phase on a nickel-containing catalyst. With a contact load of 0.35 h -1, the output of the IPS is 93.0-98.7%. SU 1118632 A1, publ. 10/15/1984.
The disadvantages of these methods are the use of "pure" hydrogen, which requires an expensive stage of concentration and removal of impurities, as well as an unsatisfactory yield of isopropyl alcohol.
The technical problem solved by the invention is to develop a method for hydrogenating acetone to isopropyl alcohol using hydrogen containing gas with impurities of oxygen, olefin and diene hydrocarbons as a hydrogenating gas, thereby eliminating the stages of producing highly pure and concentrated hydrogen.
The technical result from the implementation of the invention is to increase the yield of IPA in the process of hydrogenation of acetone by increasing the conversion, selectivity and stable operation of the catalyst for hydrogenation of acetone using a hydrogen-containing gas with impurities of olefins, diene hydrocarbons and oxygen.
As a hydrogen-containing gas, suitable for the hydrogenation of acetone in an IPS, hydrogen-containing gas from the refineries' exhaust gases (after pyrolysis, catalytic dehydrogenation of butane) can be used, in the methane-hydrogen fraction resulting from the simplest separation of hydrocarbon gases, as well as in the exhaust gases of hydrotreating plants and hydrocracking.
The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the method of hydrogenating acetone to isopropyl alcohol with a hydrogenating gas, a hydrogen-containing gas containing nitrogen, in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst on a neutral carrier, according to the invention, hydrogen-containing exhaust gas is used as a hydrogenating gas after pyrolysis of the hydrocarbon feedstock and separation propylene and ethylene, characterized by the following composition and concentration limits of the components, vol%: hydrogen - 40-90, nitrogen - 7.7-23.5, methane - 27-45, carbon dioxide - up to 1, carbon monoxide - up to 1.5, impurities of olefins - up to 3, diene hydrocarbons - up to 2.5, oxygen - up to 0.5, copper is used as a hydrogenation catalyst in an amount of 10-30 mass% deposited on a carrier in the form of silica gel granules with a grain size of 2.8-7.0 mm, specific surface area of 290-330 m 2 / g - the rest, which is activated at a temperature of 150-180 ° C, first in a stream of a mixture of hydrogen: nitrogen = 1: 1 by volume for 2-3 hours, then in a stream of hydrogen for 0.5 hours, the hydrogenation of acetone is carried out at a temperature of 100-195 ° C, a pressure of 20-30 atm, a molar ratio of hydrogen: acetone = (2-5): 1, wherein the hydrogenation gas is subjected to pre-contact preparation before mixing with acetone at a temperature of 150-250 ° C. and a pressure of 20-30 atm in the zone of the pre-contact preparation reactor filled with the same catalyst.
The achievement of the technical result also contributes to the following.
Hydrogenation is carried out in at least two successive acetone hydrogenation reactors with recycle of a portion of the catalysis to the reaction zone of the first reactor.
As shown, olefin and diene hydrocarbons, as well as oxygen, being in impurity amounts in the composition of the hydrogenating gas, cause poisoning of the catalyst, reducing its activity and selectivity with respect to the hydrogenation of acetone in IPA.
To achieve the most complete conversion of acetone, the process is carried out as a two-stage process, using a liquid-phase adiabatic reactor (P1) in the first stage with circulation of catalysis for the removal of heat of reaction, with a circulation rate of 2 to 10, which ensures a conversion of 80-95%, in the second stage - tubular a displacement reactor (P2) for the complete conversion of acetone to the target product. The effectiveness of the use of the catalyst according to the invention is fully achieved if, immediately before the supply of the hydrogenating gas to the first stage catalyst (P1), it undergoes pre-contact preparation on the catalyst (P0) through a layer of the same catalyst, where due to the hydrogenation of impurity olefin and diene hydrocarbons into alkanes and impurity oxygen pre-contact preparation takes place in water. The temperature of the P0 reactor is 150-250 ° C, the pressure is 20-30 atm with a gas volume velocity of up to 10,000 nl / l cat. For all stages of the process, the same catalyst is used, which exhibits stable activity, both at the stage of precontact preparation and at the stage of obtaining IPA. A gas that has undergone such pre-contact preparation does not require the isolation of conversion products (alkanes, water) from it and ensures the achievement of high conversion and selectivity at the stage of production of IPA.
0,5.Use a hydrogen-containing exhaust gas after the pyrolysis of hydrocarbons and the separation of propylene and ethylene, containing,%: hydrogen 40-90, nitrogen 7.7-23.5, methane 27-45, carbon dioxide up to 1, carbon monoxide up to 1.5 impurities of olefins up to 3, diene hydrocarbons up to 2.5, oxygen up to 0.5.
A decrease in the hydrogen content below 40 vol% reduces the conversion of acetone, which requires an increase in the molar ratio of hydrogen: acetone above 5: 1, which leads to irrational gas consumption and increases the load of the reactors on ballast components.
Hydrogenation of acetone is carried out at a pressure of 20-30 atm, molar ratio hydrogen: acetone = (2-5): 1, a temperature of 100-195 ° C in the first reaction zone and at a temperature of 100-150 ° C in the second reaction zone. It should be noted that due to the isothermal nature of the acetone hydrogenation reaction, the temperature of the flow inside the reactors increases with respect to the input values as it passes through the catalyst bed and should not exceed the maximum values indicated above. For example, excessively high temperatures can lead to deactivation of the catalyst, in addition, an increase in temperature in the second reaction zone above 150 ° C leads to a decrease in the conversion of acetone due to acceleration of the reverse reaction.
The proposed method allows to obtain the target product with high yield and selectivity when using a hydrogenating gas — a hydrogen-containing gas contaminated with impurities of olefins, dienes, and oxygen.
To carry out the invention, a catalyst is prepared from an aqueous solution of copper nitrate with a concentration of 21-51 mass%, silica gel with a grain size of 2.8-7.0 mm and a specific surface area of 290-330 m 2 / g is used as a carrier. A lower specific surface does not provide the proper copper distribution necessary for stable catalyst operation.
The carrier is impregnated with an aqueous solution of copper nitrate for 5-6 hours with stirring at room temperature, air drying in two stages, the first of which is carried out at a temperature of 50-60 ° C for 2-3 hours, the second at a temperature of 110- 120 ° C for 3-4 hours, calcination in a stream of air is carried out by gradually bringing the temperature to 400-450 ° C for 3-4 hours and holding at this temperature for 3-4 hours, after which the catalyst is cooled in a stream of air and then activated at a temperature of 150-180 ° C, first in a stream of a mixture of hydrogen: nitrogen = 1: 1 by volume for 2-3 hours, then in a stream of hydrogen for 0.5 h. Non-observance of the temperature regime of processing described here leads to a loss of the mechanical strength of the catalyst — cracking and grinding during loading into the reactor and operation. Activation by individual hydrogen instead of a mixture of hydrogen: nitrogen leads to a sharp self-heating at the initial moment of recovery, as a result of which the catalytic properties deteriorate. The activation temperature below 150 ° C is insufficient for the complete reduction of copper, which reduces the activity and selectivity of the catalyst in the case of using a gas with a hydrogen content of 40-50 vol% and impurities of carbon oxides. Temperatures above 180 ° C are not technically feasible.
The catalyst obtained from the above recipe does not change the activity and remains stable in the used precontact preparation of the hydrogenating gas with the removal of oxygen, olefin and diene compounds by hydrogenation to inert impurities - water and alkanes. The effective operation of the precontact preparation catalyst is achieved at a temperature of 150-250 ° C and at a pressure in the range of 20-30 atm.
A pre-contact preparation temperature below 150 ° C and a pressure below 20 atm are not sufficient for the complete conversion of impurities to inert compounds, a temperature above 250 ° C and a pressure above 30 atm are not technically feasible.
Exceeding the maximum amounts of impurity oxygen, olefins, and dienes over 0.5, 3.0, and 2.5 vol%, respectively, allowed in the present method is not advisable due to the significant overheating of the catalyst in the pre-contact preparation zone P0; for example, the oxygen content in the gas is 2 vol% due to the exothermic effect of the reaction will lead to an unacceptable temperature increase of 315 ° C, which will cause a rapid deactivation of the catalyst.
Доля водорода в гидрирующем водородсодержащем газе может снижаться до 40 об %.In accordance with the invention, the catalyst obtained from the above prescriptions does not change activity and remains stable in the hydrogenation of acetone to isopropyl alcohol when using both individual hydrogen containing impurities of oxygen, olefin and diene hydrocarbons, and a hydrogen-containing gas including these impurities and having in its composition carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane and nitrogen. The proportion of hydrogen in a hydrogenating hydrogen-containing gas can be reduced to 40 vol%.
The method of hydrogenation of acetone can be extended to obtain aliphatic alcohols, in which aliphatic ketones other than acetone, as well as aldehydes, can be used as carbonyl compounds.

2-10.Hydrogenation of acetone is carried out in a two-reactor system using reactors P1 and P2, but in the absence of a pre-contact reactor P0. The first reactor, P1, is an adiabatic type with circulation of the release of catalysis, cooled in an external heat exchanger, into the reaction zone with a catalyst, and the second, P2, is a tubular displacement reactor. The amount of catalyst in both reactors is the same. Acetone is supplied in a downward flow with a space velocity of 2 h −1 , based on the volume of catalyst in one of the reactors. Hydrogenating gas of the specified composition is supplied in an amount corresponding to a given molar ratio of hydrogen: acetone in terms of 100% hydrogen. Part of the flow of catalysate after the first reactor P1, is recycled to the inlet of reactor P1 so that the circulation ratio, the volumetric ratio of the flow of catalysed recycle to the flow of fresh acetone, is 2-10.
The composition of the hydrogenation gas is analyzed by gas chromatography (GC). The conversion of acetone and the selectivity of its conversion to IPA is determined on the basis of GC analysis of the catalysis at the outputs of the first P1 and second P2 reactor. Table 1 shows the acetone conversion and isopropyl alcohol selectivity (IPA) after the second acetone P2 hydrogenation reactor. In all cases, the maximum temperature in the first reaction zone P1 did not exceed 195 ° C, and in the second it did not exceed 150 ° C.
As can be seen from examples 3 and 4, the conversion and selectivity of the hydrogenation of acetone in the presence of impurities of oxygen, olefin and diene in the hydrogenation gas are significantly reduced compared to "pure" hydrogen. A similar picture is observed when comparing examples 5, 7-9 with examples 6, 10-12, moreover, regardless of the copper content in the catalyst, temperature and pressure of hydrogenation.
These examples indicate the active hydrogenation of acetone when using a hydrogen-containing gas containing nitrogen, methane, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide as a hydrogenating gas. These examples also indicate the poisoning effect of co-or separately present impurities of olefin, diene and oxygen.
Hydrogenation of impurity amounts of olefins to alkanes and impurity amounts of oxygen to water in the composition of the hydrogenation gas in the presence of a pre-contact preparation reactor RO (table 2).
At a predetermined pressure and temperature of the inlet stream, a hydrogenating gas of the specified composition is passed into a tubular heat-insulated reactor for precontact preparation of gas P0 with a space velocity of 10,000 h -1 . The composition of the gas leaving the reactor P0 is analyzed as described in Examples 3-12 to determine the composition of the hydrogenation gas at the outlet of the reactor P0. The data obtained are used to calculate the conversions of X olefins, dienes and oxygen.
It can be seen from the table that at pressures of 20-30 atm and temperatures of 150-250 ° C in the presence of a catalyst of 10-30 mass% Cu / SiO 2, it is possible to practically convert quantitatively impurities of olefins, dienes and oxygen. An analysis of the products showed that olefins and dienes are hydrogenated with a hydrogen-containing gas, turning into alkanes, and oxygen into water.
From examples 13-17 it follows also that during the entire testing time (more than 250 hours) the catalyst remains highly active.
Hydrogenation of acetone using a hydrogen-containing gas of various compositions in the presence of a RO contact reactor (table 3).
Hydrogenation of acetone is carried out as described in examples 3-12, but in the presence of a pre-contact reactor P0. As can be seen from the data in Table 3, at a pressure of 20-30 atm, a temperature of the reactor P0 of 150-250 ° C in the presence of a catalyst of 10-30 mass% Cu / SiO 2 , under the conditions of operation of two acetone hydrogenation reactors, it is possible to practically obtain IPA using as a hydrogenating gas, a hydrogen-containing gas containing nitrogen, methane, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, as well as impurity amounts of olefins, dienes and oxygen. A comparison of examples 23 and 25 allows us to conclude that the hydrogenation of acetone in accordance with the claimed method allows to achieve high values of the conversion of acetone and the selectivity of the formation of IPA in the presence of impurities of olefins, dienes and oxygen in the hydrogenation gas, which practically do not differ from the cases when these impurities are absent.
