Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a technology for applying coatings to metal surfaces, in particular, to technology for electric explosive spraying of composite coatings of the TiC-Mo system using molybdenum foil as an explosive material together with a weighed titanium carbide powder, and can be used in mechanical engineering to form surfaces with high wear resistance and microhardness.
The known method [1] of vacuum plasma spraying of composite coatings of the TiC-Mo system, comprising preparing a mixture of molybdenum and titanium carbide powders in a ball mill for 8 hours and vacuum plasma spraying of the resulting mixture at a chamber pressure of 100 ... 300 Mbar, spraying distance 260 ... 320 mm, a single dose of powder 33 ... 41 kW, the primary gas of argon in the amount of 35 ... 50 l / min, the secondary gas of hydrogen in the amount of 8 ... 10 l / min, the feed rate of the powder 22 ... 30 g / min, the speed of the gun 400 m / from.
The disadvantage of this method is the low adhesion of the coating to the base, as well as its multi-stage nature, which limits its performance. In the composite coating obtained by this method, porosity is present. The presence of porosity in the finished composite coating in some cases reduces its wear resistance.
Closest to the claimed is a method [2] of electric explosive deposition of metal coatings on aluminum contact surfaces, including the formation of a pulsed multiphase plasma jet of electrical explosion products of conductors and its impact on the contact surface, the contact surface is carried out in vacuum when the surface is heated to the melting temperature of the material with the formation of a coating relief on it and at a threshold value of the specific flux of plasma jet energy q, determined by by ratio:
где T - температура плавления металла; % и χ - средние значения температуро- и теплопроводности металла в интервале температур от комнатной до температуры плавления; τ - время импульса.where T is the melting temperature of the metal; % and χ are the average values of the thermal and thermal conductivity of the metal in the temperature range from room temperature to the melting point; τ is the pulse time.
The disadvantage of the prototype is the formation of coatings at a threshold value of the specific energy flux when the sprayed surface is heated to the melting temperature. In this case, the coating has an adhesive bond with the base. When spraying coatings with surface melting, an intermediate layer of mutual mixing of the coating materials and the base is formed, as a result of which the coating has a stronger adhesive-cohesive bond with the base. In addition, the prototype involves the application of coatings with high electrical conductivity, for example, copper coatings on aluminum contact surfaces. However, in some cases, it is necessary to form coatings with other high functional properties, for example, wear resistance. Electro-explosive spraying of wear-resistant coatings is possible when high-hard wear-resistant materials are introduced into the plasma jet of powder particles and transferred to an irradiated surface.
The objective of the invention is to obtain on the friction surfaces of composite coatings of the TiC-Mo system with high values of wear resistance, microhardness and adhesive-cohesive bond with the base.
The problem is realized by the method of electric explosive spraying of composite wear-resistant coatings of the TiC-Mo system on the friction surface.
The method includes placing a powder sample of titanium carbide between two layers of molybdenum foil, an electric explosion of the foil with the formation of a pulsed multiphase plasma jet, melting it with a friction surface with a specific energy flux of 3.5 ... 4.5 GW / m and spraying onto the melted layer components of the plasma jet, followed by self-hardening and the formation of a composite coating containing titanium carbide and molybdenum.
According to [1], TiC-Mo system coatings have high wear resistance and microhardness.
The structure of the coating obtained by the claimed method is closest to the structure obtained in the prototype. The advantage of the proposed method compared to the prototype is the formation of a composite coating TiC-Mo, characterized by high adhesion with a base at the level of cohesion and the absence of porosity, which makes it possible to carry out a local increase in the wear resistance of the surface of friction parts in the places of their greatest destruction under operating conditions.
1:1.The method is illustrated in the drawing, where Fig. 1 shows a diagram of a pulsed plasma accelerator for coating a TiC-Mo system on a friction surface, Fig. 2 is a micrograph of a transverse thin section of a coating, Fig. 3 is a composite filled coating structure with a ratio of molybdenum matrix and reinforcing inclusions of titanium carbide 2: 1, figure 4 - composite filled coating structure with a ratio of molybdenum matrix and reinforcing inclusions of titanium carbide 1.5: 1, figure 4 - composite filled coating structure with a corresponding Ocean molybdenum matrix and reinforcing inclusions of titanium carbide 1: 1.
The plasma accelerator consists of a coaxial-end system of current-supplying electrodes - an internal electrode 1, an
Using the plasma accelerator, a pulsed multiphase plasma jet is formed from the explosion products and the powder sample, which is directed to the friction surface at a right angle.
Scanning electron microscopy studies showed that after treating the friction surface with a plasma jet formed from the products of an electric explosion of a two-layer molybdenum foil with a titanium carbide powder sample placed in it under conditions in which the specific energy flux is 3.5 ... 4.5 GW / m 2 , the formation of a uniform in volume composite coating of the TiC-Mo system takes place, the maximum thickness of which reaches 400 ... 410 microns per processing pulse. The use of a two-layer foil allows to increase the utilization of the powder material for spraying coatings. The coating has a cohesive-adhesive bond with the material of the contact surface. Despite the fact that during sputtering, the surface of the base melts, due to the use of molybdenum foil as an exploding conductor at the boundary of the coating with the base, for example steel 45, brittle intermetallic phases are not formed. Moreover, as can be seen from figure 2, there is no visible sharp boundary between the coating and the base.
The indicated modes are optimal, since during the electric explosion spraying of friction surfaces in the mode when the specific energy flow is lower than 3.5 GW / m 2 , then there is no uniform mixing of titanium carbide and molybdenum in the coating being formed, and when above 4.5 GW / m 2 then a developed surface relief is formed due to the flow of the melt under the influence of inhomogeneous pressure of the jet of explosion products, which affects the surface quality of the formed coating.
X-ray diffraction studies showed that composite coatings containing TiC and Mo are formed in all treatment modes. The molybdenum content in the coating under the used processing conditions varies in proportion to the mass ratio of the molybdenum foil and titanium carbide powder.
