Abstract
Description
The invention relates to methods for producing multilayer coatings with a complex of physico-mechanical and plastic properties in low temperature conditions of electric arc evaporation (EDI) based on models of structural zones (MSZ) and can be used in machine-building, mining and processing industries, tool and repair industries for hardening tools and friction pairs (substrates) made of tool and structural steels with a low tempering temperature, which are intensively destroyed during operation substrate substrate under the action of abrasive and dynamic heat force loads.
С.130-134).There is a method of obtaining a coating of non-stoichiometric cubic titanium nitride TiN y in the region of its homogeneity, according to which on hardened high-speed steel P6M5 with constant technological parameters: arc current 85 A, distance from the evaporator to the
The reasons that impede the achievement of the technical result indicated below when using the known method include the fact that coatings obtained by a known method are characterized by variable hardness depending on pressure with a double case of local increase in hardness (45 and 47 GPa at 0.2 ... 0.8 Pa, respectively). As a result, under conditions of a constant increase in nitrogen pressure in the chamber with an uncontrolled change in the condensation temperature, a coating forms with an uncontrolled change: the structural state, the ratio of the refractory metal Ti and nonmetal N 2 in the coating, the phase composition, hardness and elastic modulus E, as well as the resistance characteristics of the coating material to elastic fracture strain H / E (index of plasticity of the material), the resistance of the material to plastic deformation H 3 / E 2 . For the above reasons, the known coating cannot possess a complex of stable physical, mechanical and plastic properties.
Наиболее близким к заявляемому изобретению по совокупности существенных признаков является способ получения многослойного покрытия для режущего инструмента, включающий ионную очистку подложки перед осаждением, вакуумно-плазменное нанесение трехслойного покрытия при различном давлении азота в камере установки и температуре: нижнего слоя Ti-Si-N - при 7,5·10-4 Па и 873 К, промежуточного слоя Ti-Si-Al-N - при 7,5·10-4 Па и 823 К, верхнего слоя Ti-Al-N при 4,3·10-3 Па и 773 К соответственно с толщиной всех слоев 2,0 мкм и микротвердостью всего покрытия 41,0 ГПа (патент РФ №2428509, МПК C23C 14/24).The closest to the claimed invention in terms of essential features is a method for producing a multilayer coating for a cutting tool, including ionic cleaning of the substrate before deposition, vacuum-plasma deposition of a three-layer coating at various nitrogen pressures in the installation chamber and temperature: the lower layer of Ti-Si-N - at 7.5 · 10 -4 Pa and 873 K, an intermediate layer of Ti-Si-Al-N - at 7.5 · 10 -4 Pa and 823 K, the upper layer of Ti-Al-N at 4.3 · 10 -3 Pa and 773 K, respectively, with a thickness of all layers of 2.0 μm and a microhardness of the entire coating of 41.0 GPa (Patent R F No. 2428509, IPC C23C 14/24).
Signs of the prototype, which coincides with the essential features of the claimed invention, are ion cleaning with heating of the substrate before deposition and vacuum-plasma deposition of a multilayer coating.
The reasons that impede the achievement of the technical result indicated below when using the known method adopted as a prototype include the fact that in the known method, firstly, the deposition of coating layers with decreasing temperature leads to a violation of the structural stability of the intermediate and upper layers; uncontrolled changes in their structural state, the ratio of the refractory metal Ti and non-metal N 2 in the coating, phase composition and the above properties, and therefore, to a deterioration in the stability of the operational properties of the coating, which is unacceptable under the conditions of significant alternating abrasive and heat stress loads; secondly, the high microhardness of the coating of 41.0 GPa indicates its fragility and low H / E and H 3 / E 2 characteristics, therefore, the coating will not have the required complex of stable physico-mechanical and plastic properties. In addition, the known method is associated with a time-consuming and expensive method for producing low-porous multicomponent targets with non-metals.
The objective of the proposed technical solution is to obtain a highly economical multilayer coating with a set of stable physicomechanical and ductile properties in low-temperature conditions of electric arc evaporation based on models of structural zones to increase the resistance of the substrate surface to abrasive and dynamic heat forces.
The problem was solved due to the fact that in the known method for producing a multilayer coating, including ion cleaning with heating the substrate before deposition and vacuum-plasma deposition of the multilayer coating, heating of the substrate before deposition of the coating is carried out in the process of ion cleaning with a heating rate of 70 K / min to temperature 650 K, the lower layer of titanium Ti is applied to the substrate in an inert gas medium with a final coating temperature after deposition of 615 ÷ 630 K, then in a gas mixture of argon and nitrogen with nitrogen content per At least 90%, alternating layers of bicomponent titanium nitride TiN with a polycrystalline structure and a bicomponent titanium nitride TiN with a nanocrystalline structure are applied, and a TiN layer with a polycrystalline structure is applied with a gradual increase in the temperature of the coating to 645 ÷ 675 K with a heating rate of 3.2 ÷ 4 , 4 K / min, and a TiN layer with a nanocrystalline structure is applied with a gradual increase in the coating temperature to 695–725 K with a heating rate of 3.7 K / min, while the deposition of coating layers is carried out by evaporation of two itanovyh cathodes and the deposition of the alternating layers is repeated at most twice, the last applied layer of the bicomponent titanium nitride TiN with a nanocrystalline structure.
Signs of the proposed technical solution, distinctive from the solution of the prototype, - heating the substrate before deposition of the coating is carried out in the process of ion cleaning at a heating rate of 70 K / min to a temperature of 650 K; a lower layer of titanium Ti is applied to the substrate in an inert gas medium with a final coating temperature after deposition of 615 ÷ 630 K; then, in a gas mixture of argon and nitrogen with a nitrogen content of not less than 90%, alternating layers of bicomponent titanium nitride TiN with a polycrystalline structure and bicomponent titanium nitride TiN with a nanocrystalline structure are applied; a TiN layer with a polycrystalline structure is applied with a gradual increase in the coating temperature to 645–675 K with a heating rate of 3.2–4.4 K / min; a TiN layer with a nanocrystalline structure is applied with a gradual increase in the coating temperature to 695–725 K with a heating rate of 3.7 K / min; coating layers are applied by evaporation of two titanium cathodes; the deposition of alternating layers is repeated no more than two times, with the latter being applied a layer of bicomponent titanium nitride TiN with a nanocrystalline structure.
Heating the substrate to a temperature of 650 K before coating deposition, carried out in the process of ion cleaning at a speed of 70 K / min, will evenly heat the substrate and thermally activate its surface before deposition of the coating.
Application of a Ti adhesive layer on the cleaned and thermally activated surface of the substrate, which has significant crystallochemical compatibility with the subsequent nitridotitanium TiN coating layer and the substrate material with its natural decrease to a temperature of 615--630 K, will reduce stresses at their interface and increase adhesion between them.
Applying a layer of bicomponent titanium nitride TiN with a polycrystalline structure in a gas mixture of argon and nitrogen with a nitrogen content of at least 90% with a gradual increase in the temperature of the coating to 645 ÷ 675 K with a heating rate of 3.2 ÷ 4.4 K / min coating layer with satisfactory physical and mechanical (H = 27 GPa, W e = 69 GPa, N / E = 0.12 and H 3 / E 2 = 0.8) and high plastic properties (E = 209 GPa, close to the substrate ) This will lead to an increase in the resistance of the substrate to dynamic power loads.
Application of a two-component layer of titanium nitride with a nanocrystalline structure in a gas mixture of argon and nitrogen with a nitrogen content of not less than 90% with a gradual increase in the temperature of the coating to 695–725 K with a heating rate of 3.7 K / min will make it possible to obtain a coating with an optimal complex of physical mechanical (N≥35 GPa, We≥70 GPa, N / E = 0.1 ÷ 0.2 and H 3 / E 2 = 0.8 ÷ 1.3), plastic properties (E = 200 ÷ 250 GPa). In addition, the layer will provide high crack resistance due to the fact that the deformation of coatings with a nanocrystalline structure leads to the formation of many nanocracks that cannot grow above a critical value determined by the crystallite size. This will lead to an increase in the resistance of the substrate to the effects of abrasive and dynamic heat forces due to their uniform distribution over the coating surface.
The deposition of layers by evaporation of two titanium coating cathodes will increase the degree of ionization of the vapor stream and the rate of plasma chemical reactions, reduce the nonequilibrium deposition of the coating, and obtain a coating with a stoichiometric composition with stable properties.
The deposition of layers with a polycrystalline and nanocrystalline structure is repeated no more than two times depending on the operational purpose of the substrate and the magnitude of the abrasion and heat-stress loads acting on them.
The application of the last layer with a nanocrystalline structure will increase the resistance of the coating to the effects of various types of dynamic loads.
Based on the study of the evolution of the coating structure depending on the technological and temperature parameters of the coating deposition process (see table), three-dimensional models of structural zones (MSZ) were developed that clearly illustrate the reasons for the change in its structure (cellular, globular, granular, columnar, nanocrystalline). As a temperature parameter providing the necessary coating structure, we used not a homologous temperature T g (the ratio of the substrate temperature T 0 to the melting temperature of the deposited coating material T p in Kelvin degrees), as is customary in the most frequently used Thornton model, but the duration and speed of heating the substrate (T heating charge and V heating charge ), the initial temperature (T p ) and the heating rate of the coating during its formation (V heating charge ). Due to the use of these parameters to control the structure, the required complex of stable physical, mechanical and plastic properties was obtained.
In the developed MRZ, three axes with temperature were used: T p , V loading. and technological parameters (U cm is the bias voltage; I d is the arc current; P is the pressure of the gas mixture; L is the distance from the cathode to the substrate; N 2 is the nitrogen content in the gas mixture).
Using the MSZ, the optimal temperature parameters T p and V heats were established. at which the substrate structure is stabilized, the diameter of the primary nanocrystallites decreases to 5 nm, the rate of the stages of coating formation increases, and ultimately, the process of structure formation of the coating with the nanocrystalline and polycrystalline structure shifts to lower temperatures.
1-5.The method is illustrated by the drawings shown in FIG. 1-5.
п. за счет изменения одного их основных технологических параметров (Uсм; Iд; P; L; N2):Figure 1-5 shows a model of the structural zones of TiN coatings formed by electric arc evaporation at variable temperature parameters T p , V loading due to changes in one of the main technological parameters (U cm ; I d ; P; L; N 2 ):

A method of obtaining a multilayer coating is as follows.
The substrate is mounted on a rotary device in a vacuum chamber and the chamber is pumped out. Ion cleaning is carried out by one electric arc evaporator located at a distance of 270 mm from the substrate. Ion purification is carried out in an inert argon gas at a pressure in the chamber of 0.01 Pa, an arc current of 80 A with a gradual increase in high voltage to 0.6 keV over 5 minutes with heating of the substrate at a speed of V heated. = 70 K / min to T heating load = 650 K, controlled by the pyrometric method.
Then a pressure of 1.0 Pa is created in a vacuum chamber, a high voltage is removed from the substrate, and a reference voltage of 200 V is applied to the substrate. The titanium layer (adhesive layer) is deposited in an inert gas of argon for 3 minutes. The temperature of the Ti layer is controlled, the final temperature of the coating should be 615 ÷ 630 K.
Further, in the medium of reaction (nitrogen N 2 ) and inert (Ar) gases with an N 2 content of at least 90%, two electric arc evaporators located at a distance of 270 mm from the substrate, with a gradual increase in the coating temperature to 645 ÷ 675 K with a heating rate of 3 , 2 ÷ 4.4 K / min, a layer of titanium nitride TiN with a polycrystalline structure ~ 1.5 μm thick is applied for 10 minutes. It is possible to increase the temperature of the coating by increasing either the bias voltage to 250 V, or the pressure of the gas mixture to 1.4 Pa, or the arc current to 90 A.
Then, with two electric arc evaporators, with a gradual increase in the coating temperature to 695–725 K with a heating rate of 3.7 K / min with a bias voltage of 200 V, an arc current of 80 A, a gas mixture pressure of 1.0 Pa, a cathode-substrate distance of 270 mm, apply a layer of titanium nitride TiN with a nanocrystalline structure with a thickness of ~ 3.5 μm for 22 minutes. The deposition of a TiN layer with a nanocrystalline structure on a moving substrate will limit the diameter and height of nanocrystallites to 5–10 nm.
The TiN-TiN multilayer coating design with a structural gradient, developed on the basis of structural zone models, makes it possible to improve both the resistance of the substrate to abrasive and heat stress loads and the resistance of the coating to elastic fracture deformation, plastic deformation under conditions of abrasive and alternating dynamic dynamic conditions under low-temperature electric arc evaporation heat power loads.
