Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of operation of underground and surface metal pipelines, and in particular to monitoring their corrosive state.
Due to corrosion processes, the thickness of the walls of the pipeline decreases, and therefore, their electrical resistance increases. By the change in this resistance, at each subsequent measurement, the degree of corrosion wear of the walls of the pipeline is judged.
A known method of monitoring the corrosion state of the pipeline (US patent No. 4587479, IPC G01R 27/02, priority 05/06/1986), comprising measuring the electrical resistance of the sensing element of the sensor located inside the pipeline and installed in the hole made in the wall of the pipeline. By the change in the electrical resistance of the sensor element, the degree of the destructive effect of the working process media on the pipeline material is judged. Thermal compensation of the measurement is carried out by comparing the measured resistance with the resistance of the reference element (reference resistor) installed in the hole made in the wall of the pipeline.
The disadvantage of this method is a complex system for assessing the degree of corrosion wear of the walls of the pipeline. In addition, the accuracy of the measurement is reduced due to the use of data on changes in the resistance of the sensor material, which only indirectly reflect the actual degree of wear of the pipeline material. Another disadvantage is the need to violate the integrity of the pipe wall for installing sensors along its entire length.
Known closest to the claimed invention is a method for monitoring the corrosion state of a pipeline (patent RU No. 224297, IPC G01N 27/02, published January 10, 2005), which includes a breakdown of the pipeline under investigation into adjacent measured sections, digging pits at the boundaries of sections, installing in a pit in the regional zones (at the borders) of the site of two potential measuring electrodes with a measuring device (microohmmeter) and two current electrodes with a current supply wire, passing a stable current through the edge zone of the measured area and black Without the entire measuring section, taking measurements of the voltage drop, determining the specific resistance of the metal in the boundary zone of this section. The resulting metal resistivity of this section is used as a reference characteristic of the electrical resistance of this section of the pipeline. With this in mind, the basic characteristics of the electrical resistance of a given section are calculated with the estimated minimum allowable wall thickness of the pipes used. Further, according to the known method, the potential difference is measured over the entire length of the measuring section using a four-electrode circuit and the current characteristic of the electrical resistance of this section is determined. Then, a comparison is made of the current characteristic of the electrical resistance of this section with the basic characteristic of the electrical resistance of the section to assess the degree of corrosion wear of the pipeline material in this particular measured section of the pipeline. After that, potential electrodes are dismantled, as well as a set of current electrodes and measuring instruments, and they are transferred to the next measuring section to measure its electrical parameters.
The disadvantage of this method is the difficulty of obtaining data on corrosion wear along the entire length of the pipeline, since it requires the determination of its reference characteristics of the resistance of the metal of the pipe for each measuring section and measuring the wall thickness and outer diameter of the pipe in the boundary zones of each section separately. In addition, due to the different real wall thickness and pipe diameter in different sections of the pipeline, the known method requires the calculation of resistivities (reference characteristics) for each section separately. Another disadvantage of the known method lies in its complexity, which is due to the need to first install four potential electrodes in the first measured area, as well as a set of current electrodes and measuring instruments, and then transfer them from the first measured section of the pipeline to the next for their new installation. Moreover, the known method does not provide the necessary measurement accuracy, since it does not provide for temperature compensation of the measurements. All these disadvantages of the known method significantly complicate the operational monitoring of corrosion of the pipeline.
The objective of the invention is to simplify the process of determining corrosion wear along the entire length of the pipeline while ensuring temperature compensation of the measurements, as well as reducing the complexity of the measurement process.

The present invention, in comparison with the prototype, allows for operational monitoring of pipeline corrosion along its entire length due to the stationary placement of a set of measuring devices and potential electrodes on each measuring section. At the same time, temperature compensation of the measurement error is provided. In addition, the requirements for stabilization of the current relate to its stability during the next measurement, and not to its absolute value. Also significantly reduced time spent on the next measurement cycle. There is the possibility of continuous monitoring, independent of weather conditions by automating the measurement process using computer technology.
