The invention relates to electroplastic shaping processing of ultrafine alloys with shape memory effect (EPF) based on the TiNi intermetallic compound in order to significantly increase their deformation ability and service properties and can be used in metallurgy, mechanical engineering and medicine. Its use in medical devices and devices for traumatology, orthopedics, dentistry, minimally invasive surgery and other surgical devices in the form of implants and instruments is especially attractive.
Known methods for thermomechanical processing of titanium-nickel alloys with a shape memory effect to improve their mechanical and functional properties. For example, a method for detecting the effects of shape memory in alloys based on titanium of martensitic and transitional classes (RF patent No. 21115760, IPC C22F 1/18, 07/20/1998) includes hardening, plastic deformation and heating.
There is also known a method of manufacturing a superelastic nickel-titanium alloy with a shape memory effect (JP 6065741, IPC C22F 1/10, publ. 24.08.94 g, ISM, issue 48, No. 10/97), according to which the alloy containing 50-51 at.% nickel, the rest is titanium, subjected to annealing, cold deformation with a degree of deformation of 15-60%, and then a certain shape of the alloy is fixed and heated to 175-600 ° C.
в Бюллетене №36, 27.12.2005).There is also known a method for producing TiNi alloys by the method of warm equal-channel angular pressing at temperatures of 400-450 ° C, which allows you to create an ultrafine-grained structure with grain sizes of 250-500 nm in rods with a diameter of 8 mm and above (RF Patent No. 2266973, published in Bulletin No. 36, 12/27/2005).
The disadvantages of the known methods is the use of small and medium degrees of deformation, the need for intermediate annealing and the inability to form products of thin section due to the low deformation ability of hardened or ultrafine alloys.
It is known that technological plasticity in metal forming can be significantly improved by using the electroplastic effect — by introducing an electric current into the deformation zone. For example, in single crystals of pure metals (Zn, Ni, Ti) and coarse-grained structural alloys (steel, W-based alloys), plastic deformation in combination with current can increase technological plasticity by 50-100% (Troitsky O.A., Baranov Yu. .V., Avraamov Yu.S., Shlyapin AD Physical foundations and technologies for processing modern materials, in 2 volumes, vol. 1. - M.-Izhevsk: Institute of Computer Research, 2004). A known method of processing metals by pressure, in which the deformation is carried out in conjunction with electric current (application No. 2005127525, publication date 10.04.2007). This method is limited to metallic coarse-grained materials, in which the thermal effect of the current does not have a significant effect on the structural stability of the deformable material. However, in ultrafine-grained alloys with a shape memory effect, the influence of possible heating during current transmission on the functional and mechanical properties can be significant due to their low thermal stability associated with a high dislocation density and grain boundaries in the structure.
As a prototype, a method for producing a superelastic titanium-nickel alloy with a shape memory effect (JP 58161753, IPC С22F 1/10, publ. 09/26/1983) was selected, including preliminary hardening of a coarse-grained alloy, subsequent cold deformation by rolling with a degree of engineering deformation ≥20 % (or true strain e = 0.2) and annealing at a temperature of 250-550 ° C.
The disadvantages of the method are the use of initially coarse-grained alloys, relatively low degrees of deformation (e <1), poor dispersion of the structure, the need for lengthy intermediate annealing during multi-pass rolling, which do not allow to achieve high performance, productivity and energy saving. The method does not allow to combine rolling and annealing operations.
The objective of the invention is the shaping of thin and superthin semi-finished products in the form of a sheet, wire, strip (less than 1.0 mm thick) from bulk ultrafine-grained TiNi alloys with a shape memory effect while maintaining or improving functional properties by increasing the deformation ability and additional structural grinding of the deformable material.
The task is achieved in the following way. An ultrafine-grained TiNi alloy with a shape memory effect in the annealed state at room temperature is subjected to deformation with a true degree of deformation e> 1, which, unlike the prototype, is accompanied by the introduction of an electric pulse current, and at each stage of deformation, the current parameters vary depending on the deformation modes.
In addition, it is recommended:
- менять направление деформации при каждом шаге;- change the direction of deformation at each step;
- осуществлять нагрев сплава электроимпульсным током после деформации;- carry out heating of the alloy by electric pulse current after deformation;
The proposed method provides for the preparation of thin-section semi-finished products from ultrafine-grained alloys with a shape memory effect during multi-pass rolling with increased deformation ability e> 1 without fracture and intermediate annealing, and obtaining a homogeneous nanostructure with grain size <100 nm due to electrical stimulation of plastic deformation. The method allows you to control the parameters of the nanostructure and to provide a set of high mechanical and functional properties in a wide range, to combine thermal and deformation processing in one technological cycle.
Thus, the proposed combination of features of the method allows to obtain a new effect, leading to the shaping of products of thin section with a significant improvement in the physicomechanical, functional properties of the processed material, as well as increasing productivity and reducing energy costs. This allows us to conclude that the claimed invention meets the criterion of "Inventive step".
The method is as follows. The initial billet, in particular, a strip of titanium-nickel alloy in an ultrafine-grained state after heat treatment to relieve stresses, is subjected to multi-way electroplastic deformation. For example, they place it in a mill stand with a pulsed current generator and carry out repeated rolling with current in order to accumulate a high true degree of deformation (e≥1) at a temperature not higher than the direct martensitic transformation temperature to obtain a section with a thickness of less than 1 mm and the formation of a homogeneous nanostructure. The number of passes (the accumulated true degree of deformation) is determined by the initial and final thickness of the workpiece, as well as the required structure parameters to achieve certain properties.
Electroplastic rolling at temperatures above room temperature can lead to degradation of the ultrafine-grained structure due to its low thermal stability and the resulting intensive grain growth and reduced strength.
To increase technological ductility and the formation of a certain type of microstructure in order to achieve both high strength and ductility of the workpiece, a pulsed current with a density of 10-1000 A / mm 2 , a frequency of 100-10000 Hz, and a duration of 10-1000 μs is used.
The electroplastic effect of the pulsed current decreases at temperatures above room temperature, current density below 10 A / mm 2 , pulse duration less than 10 μs and more than 1000 μs.
All states of alloys obtained by electroplastic rolling are characterized by higher service properties compared with the properties of the prototype. Based on the specific requirements for the material, varying the modes of plastic deformation and pulse current, it is possible to obtain states with a different combination of properties — deformability, strength, reversible deformation, temperature of the manifestation of the shape memory effect.
It is possible to carry out an additional step for inducing the shape memory effect in the alloy, which consists in heating the deformed workpiece with a pulsed current. Such processing is necessary for medical alloys that use the multiple shape memory effect.
An example of a specific implementation.
The starting material is an ultrafine-grained strip with a section of 2 × 6 mm and a length of 200 mm of the Ti 49.3 Ni 50.7 alloy obtained by the method of intensive plastic deformation, for example, by equal-channel angular pressing of a bar and its subsequent cutting. The strip preliminarily annealed to relieve internal stresses is subjected to multi-way rolling with current at a temperature of about 0 ° C, a speed of 60 mm / s with a change of direction in a two-roll mill with a single compression over a cross section of 10% to a final thickness of 0.2 mm, resulting in an accumulated true degree deformations e> 2.3. The parameters of the pulsed current introduced into the deformation zone are regulated by the generator and are: current density 100 A / mm 2 , pulse frequency and duration 1000 Hz and 80 μs, respectively.
2.At the last stage, the deformed workpiece was subjected to heating by a pulsed current at a current density of 200 A / mm 2 .
Для сравнения приведены данные заготовки, обработанной по способу-прототипу (режим 2).Structural states, processing modes, results of mechanical tests and determination of the functional properties of the obtained workpiece are given in the table. For comparison, the data of the workpiece processed by the prototype method (mode 2).
As the results show, rolling with current (modes 3 and 4) allows several times to increase the degree of maximum deformation e without fracture, reduce grain size by three orders of magnitude and increase strength (σ B , σ 0.2 ), reactive stress σ r max , the maximum reversible deformation ε r max and maintain sufficient ductility (δ) compared with the prototype (mode 2). The temperature of the reverse martensitic transformation A f is close to the temperature of the human body, which ensures the applicability of the alloy for medical purposes.
Импульсный нагрев позволяет улучшить функциональные свойства (режим 5).The combined action of the pulsed current and plastic deformation leads to an additional increase in the yield strength of the alloy while maintaining a ductility margin noticeable for practical purposes. Pulse heating improves the functional properties (mode 5).
Thus, the proposed method for processing ultrafine-grained alloys allows to obtain a semi-finished product of thin section without intermediate annealing, to reduce the grain size in the structure to the nanoscale, due to which
повысить механические и функциональные свойства обрабатываемого материала и использовать его в ответственных технических конструкциях и устройствах, в том числе в медицине;to increase the mechanical and functional properties of the processed material and use it in critical technical structures and devices, including medicine;
