Abstract
Description
Technical field
The invention relates to catalysts made of platinum group metals on a carbon carrier and methods for their preparation, intended for use in electrodes of fuel cells, electrochemical gas sensors and other electrochemical devices.
State of the art
1807).Known platinum catalyst (platinum black) obtained by reducing an aqueous solution of platinum hydrochloric acid (H 2 PtCl 6 · 6H 2 O) with the following reducing agents: 1 - hydrazine hydrate, 2 - alkali metal formates, 3 - acetic acid, 4 - formaldehyde (Brower G. Manual on inorganic synthesis, vol. 5: Handbook / Brower G. M: Mir, 1985, p. 1807).
The maximum specific surface area of platinum (about 25-30 m 2 / g) is achieved when lithium formate is used as a reducing agent. However, when such catalysts are used in the electrodes of gas sensors, fuel cells, and in hydrocarbon dehydrogenation processes, the consumption of the platinum group metal is high, and in addition, they lose their properties over time due to aggregation of catalyst particles during electrode preparation. To reduce the consumption of the platinum group metal, various carriers are used on which platinum group metal particles are deposited.
A known method of producing a catalyst by electrochemical deposition of platinum group metals on nanodiamond particles (US Patent 20050200260, 09/15/2005, MKI H01M 4/90). The disadvantages of this method include the difficulty of obtaining the catalyst separately from the substrate on which the nanodiamond particles are deposited, and the complexity of the preparation process. This catalyst is intended for use in fuel cells, i.e. low sensitivity to carbon monoxide is required. Therefore, the catalyst is not effective when used in gas sensors.
Of the known catalysts and methods for their preparation, the catalyst and the method for its preparation described in the US patent (US Pat. No. 4,136,059. 1979, Cl. B01L 21/18) are the closest in the set of essential features and the technical result achieved. The catalyst preparation method consists in applying platinum to graphite or soot from a colloidal solution in the presence of sodium dithionite, followed by reduction with formic acid. The disadvantages of such catalysts and similar ones when used in commercial CO electrochemical gas sensors include the low selectivity of CO sensors (the sensitivity ratio S CO / S H2 does not exceed 5-8). When using such a catalyst for dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons, the catalyst will be destroyed in time above 400 ° C due to the low thermal stability of graphite due to its oxidation in the presence of small amounts of water and oxygen in hydrocarbons or as a result of carbonization.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The objective of the invention is to obtain a catalyst with a high specific surface area and efficiency when used in electrodes of electrochemical gas CO sensors and for dehydrogenation reactions of hydrocarbons, for example cyclohexane.
The specified technical result is achieved by the fact that upon receipt of the catalyst in an aqueous solution of salts / acids of platinum group metals and lithium formate, an aqueous suspension of nanodiamond particles with a specific surface area of 200-600 m 2 / g and a nanodiamond content of 20-85 wt.% Relative to pure metal, and the synthesis is carried out at a temperature of 20-40 ° C at pH 7 and the concentration of acids / salts in solution from 10 -3 to 5 · 10 -3 g-mol / liter. In the absence of nanodiamond particles, the precipitation of a metal of the platinum group occurs at a temperature of 85-95 ° C. The introduction of nanodiamond particles into the solution reduces the precipitation temperature to 20 ° C, i.e., the reaction proceeds under milder conditions, which allows one to obtain a catalyst with a higher specific surface area. In the presence of a suspension of nanodiamond particles in the solution, platinum metal ions bind to functional groups on the surface of the nanodiamond. During subsequent reduction, the metal is fixed on the graphite shell of the nanodiamond.
