Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the unloading of ammunition (BP) containing an explosive charge (EX).
In connection with the reduction of armaments and military equipment, a significant amount of ammunition (BP) of various types has been accumulated at the bases and warehouses of the Russian Federation, withdrawn from service or unsuitable for use due to expiration of storage periods. Given the total number of such PSUs, as well as the difficulties arising from their storage, one of the first places is the problem of eliminating such PSUs. Note that often the problem of eliminating ammunition also arises when troops are relocated from their bases to new places, as, for example, was the case with the withdrawal of Russian troops from the republics of the former Soviet Union. In these cases, the destruction of fully usable BP is explained by the impossibility and irrationality of their transportation to new places of deployment of troops.
At the moment, for example, in the territory of the Russian Federation, tens of millions of ammunition for various purposes have accumulated in warehouses and military bases to be eliminated. Long-term storage of such PSUs creates a real threat of unauthorized explosions. In connection with the foregoing, the problem of eliminating this kind of BP has now become extremely relevant.
The BP liquidation problem has two sides: the implementation of economically feasible disposal methods that minimize material costs, including the transportation of BP from storage facilities to their disposal sites and the most efficient use of valuable raw materials from which these PSUs are made. Utilization of secondary raw materials is an important resource-saving direction in the context of an ever-increasing shortage of natural resources and, given that most BPs subject to destruction contain a large amount of valuable materials, such as high-quality steels and non-ferrous metals, it can be concluded that development is necessary and relevant. including, and methods of utilization of BP.
A method for the complete elimination of BP by undermining them is described. Currently, this method is used most often. At first glance, such a "simple" solution to the problem actually entails a lot of serious troubles and side difficulties. The disadvantages of this method of destroying BP can be attributed, firstly, to the fact that all the materials from which the BP data are made are almost completely lost, including metal, which often has a significantly large mass in BP; secondly, the process of undermining a PSU requires the creation of specially equipped territories, and these territories must have large areas for security purposes; thirdly, with an increase in the number of simultaneously exploded BPs, the degree of control over the process is rather sharply reduced. In addition to these shortcomings, this method also causes a number of indirect problems, for example, related to the deterioration of the environmental situation in the area of the explosions, the search for and destruction of unexploded power supplies, etc. Given also the irreplaceability of natural resources, we must look for ways to more efficiently destroy the power supplies than them undermining. However, it is much more rational to eliminate BP without destroying its explosive and body material, which can be processed into useful products. The main problem in this case is providing 20 economical and safe extraction of explosives from the PSU case. Depending on the design features of the BP to be disposed of, as well as on the composition of the explosives included in it, one or another method of removing the explosive charge from the metal shell is more effective.
The following methods for separating explosive charge are known.
1. The method of melting the explosive charge from the shell by heating it with hot steam or liquid.
2. The method of dissolution of explosive charge in solvents of various compositions.
3. Bonfire method of burning a charge of explosives.
4. The method of burning the explosive charge from the shell by drilling it out or other mechanical operation.
6. The method of burning a charge from the shell of the product using a special overhead charge.
The above methods 1-5 are ineffective or generally not applicable for BPs containing non-consumable or poorly soluble explosives, as well as BPs with a large ratio of the mass of the metal shell of the BP to the mass of the explosive charge (about 10: 1). This situation is especially characteristic of small-caliber artillery shells and a number of other products. According to rough estimates, the number of such PSUs is extremely large and is calculated by tens of millions of pieces. In this case, it is completely unrealistic to apply
For the disposal of these types of ammunition, the application of the above methods 1-6 is not effective due to their low productivity, high operating costs, the remoteness of the storage depots of the BP from the bases for their elimination. The explosive charge smelting method (see method 1) is ineffective due to the 20 non-meltability of the explosive. The method of dissolving the explosive charge in solvents (see method 2) is ineffective due to the poor solubility of the explosive ordnance of the class in question. This method also has the disadvantage that the currently most effective solvents for these types of explosives practically cannot be regenerated after their single use.
The use of a mechanical operation to extract an explosive charge from a metal shell of a power supply unit entails the creation of sophisticated technological equipment necessary for organizing the disposal of the required amount of ammunition. At the same time, a certain amount of unexploded explosive remains on the walls of the shell, which must be removed using additional processing. It is also necessary to take into account the real possibility of initiating a thermal explosion in case of violation of technological regulations. This method also requires significant material costs, which cannot always be compensated by the price obtained from the processing of materials.
Given that quite often the metal part represents the main value in a power supply unit, quite effective ways to dispose of power supply units, including those having a charge of a non-melting and poorly soluble explosive, are the methods of burning explosive charges using the bonfire method (see method 3), in special chambers (see . method 4), using an individual overhead charge (see method 6). However, these methods have many disadvantages. The burning of charges on bonfires due to its disorder does not guarantee the complete elimination of the charges of all BPs, and uncontrolled overheating of the metal shell can cause a thermal explosion of the explosive charge. Burning in special furnaces is inefficient, energy-intensive, requires special protection due to the real possibility of initiating a thermal explosion of the explosive charge when the shell body overheats with an external heat source. In both of these methods of burning, external energy is spent on heating the entire mass of PSUs, which is inefficient, especially in the case of burning an explosive charge from a PSU with a large ratio of the mass of the metal shell to the mass of the HE, for example, in such PSUs as small-caliber artillery shells or elements of sea mines . Both methods also do not allow for effective monitoring of the process, either due to the fundamental impossibility, as in the case of burning the explosive charge by the bonfire method, or due to the significant thermal energy of the power supply, as in the case of burning the explosive charge in a special furnace.
Closest to the proposed authors is a method consisting in burning explosives in the shell of the munition by initiating the combustion of explosives from the side of its free surface.
Thus, we have to admit that the above methods, although they are workable, however, have low efficiency, for example, for small-caliber artillery ammunition. Experimental and theoretical results show that in this case it is much more economical to use other methods, including the method proposed by the authors.
The purpose of the invention is the provision of a highly effective method of unloading ammunition by destroying explosive charges and preserving their metal casings. Another objective of the invention is the reduction of current costs and initial investment in the organization of the process, the possibility of organizing the process of unloading in a continuous mode, as well as the ability to automate the process. The proposed method is also aimed at reducing the area required for organizing the demilitarization cycle, as well as at improving environmental performance compared to the currently most used for these types of PS by disposal by blasting.
Цель достигнута путем проведения процесса непрерывного послойного горения ВВ со стороны его открытой поверхности. Для возможности осуществления данного процесса обеспечивают свободный доступ к 15 поверхности ВВ, для этого взрыватель и БП или их головные части предварительно удаляют. The goal was achieved by carrying out a process of continuous layer-by-layer combustion of explosives from the side of its open surface. In order to be able to carry out this process, they provide free access to the 15th surface of the explosive;
In most cases, for carrying out the process of layer-by-layer combustion of explosives in a BP channel, it is enough to simply initiate this process.
To initiate the process of layer-by-layer burning, ammunition having through channels in which explosive charges are located are arranged vertically and coaxially one above the other in the form of a column, a metal body is placed at the top of the column and the process of layer-by-layer combustion of the explosive charge from its open surface is initiated, while ensuring passage the body through the channels in the housings installed in the column BP, under the influence of its own gravity.
As the explosive charge burns out in the PSU case, the metal body falls to the underlying layers under its own weight. Since the process of layer-by-layer combustion of explosives in the PSU case is accompanied by the release of a significant amount of energy, the metal body is constantly in a heated state. After the explosive completely burns out in the PSU case, the metal body falls under the action of gravity onto the surface of the next explosive ordnance below. In this case, the reaction of layer-by-layer combustion of the explosive in the case of this BP occurs. This process can go on continuously while ensuring a constant supply under the bottom of the PSU column with a non-burning explosive. Obviously, in order to initiate the layer-by-layer combustion reaction of the explosive in the PSU case, it is necessary to ensure that when a metal body falls onto the surface of the underlying PSU, it has a sufficient temperature and the necessary heat reserve. This problem is easily solved by selecting the size, shape and material of the metal body.
The initial initiation of the process of layer-by-layer combustion of explosives in the BP channel is possible in several ways. Firstly, it is possible to preheat the body to the required temperature, and then place it directly on the explosive surface in the channel of the metal case of the power supply unit. In the second method, the stratified combustion reaction is initiated by an auxiliary igniter charge of a combustible substance, for example, gunpowder placed between the surface of the explosive charge and a metal body. In the latter case, the auxiliary ignition charge is “ignited” either by direct action of the metal body itself, which has a temperature and energy supply sufficient for this, which may not be sufficient to initiate a layer-by-layer combustion reaction of the explosive itself in the PSU, or by indirect action on this intermediate charge, for example, with a primer, spark, special reagent or laser beam. However, it is possible to combine both of these methods, for example, by providing the initiation of the layer-by-layer combustion of explosives in the channel of the very first PSU in the second way, and in other PSUs in the first way, i.e. direct exposure to a heated body on the surface of the explosive.
To ensure a continuous process of burning explosives in the BP channel, the process of passage of a metal body through the channel under the influence of its own weight is provided. To do this, install in the same column BP having the same or almost the same diameter of the through channel. It is also necessary to appropriately select the shape of the metal body in order to avoid jamming during lowering along the BP channels. The most optimal shape is the shape of a ball or cylinder with a ratio of its length to its diameter of not less than 5 to 1, and in the latter case, for better effect, the ends of the cylinder can also be rounded.
It is also necessary not to forget that the diameter of the metal body must also be selected in such a way as to give an output to the products formed in the process of layer-by-layer combustion.
In FIG. 1-3 various schemes of realization of layer-by-layer combustion of explosives in a BP channel are presented.
In FIG. 1 is a diagram of a device for implementing a method of burning explosives from a PSU case in a layered combustion mode, where the layered combustion is initiated by the direct action of a heated metal body on the explosive charge surface. For simplicity, the metal body is depicted in the form of a ball, although it may also have a different shape, for example, a cylinder. The device consists of assembling several columns of
In FIG. 2 shows a diagram of a device for implementing a method of burning explosives from a BP channel in a layer-by-layer combustion mode, where layer-by-layer combustion is initiated by the action of heated metal bodies on the surface of an intermediate igniter charge, which serves to initiate a layer-by-layer combustion reaction. Moreover, the intermediate charge can be found in all PSUs standing in the column, and only in the uppermost layer of PSU in the column. In this case, the intermediate substance is in all BP. As in FIG. 1, metal bodies are depicted as balls. The device consists of assembling several columns of
In FIG. 3 shows a diagram of a device for implementing the process of recycling BP in a continuous mode. This circuit is different from the circuits shown in FIG. 1 and 2, in that it organizes a process for the constant supply of non-loaded ammunition, that is, a power supply unit with a unburned explosive, under the bottom of the columns and the constant removal of the shells of the utilized power supply units on top of the columns. The device includes the assembly of
The basis of the organization of this method of unloading BP is the phenomenon of layer-by-layer combustion of explosives. Experiments and theoretical calculations show that for the majority of explosives under consideration, the initiation of a layer-by-layer reaction with direct contact of a metal body with an explosive surface should have its temperature not lower than the combustion temperature of the explosive surface, i.e., not lower than 500 o C. Obviously, to initiate the necessary reaction, the metal the body must also possess the necessary energy reserve necessary to ensure the heating of the combustion surface to the depth necessary for stationary combustion of explosives. This stock is determined mainly by the heat capacity of the material and dimensions, so when choosing a metal body, these factors must be taken into account. It is necessary to take into account the fact that in the process of layer-by-layer combustion of explosives in the BP channel, gaseous and solid reaction products are released, for this reason the diameter of the metal body must be selected in such a way as to give the combustion products of the explosives out, while the diameter should not be so small that the heat stored by the metal body is not enough to initiate the reaction of layer-by-layer combustion of explosives in the underlying BP. The most optimal diameter of the metal body will be a diameter that is in the range from 0.2 to 0.7 of the minimum diameter of the charge of the burnt explosive, but not less than 15 mm. The lower boundary of the diameter of the metal body used is related to the critical diameter of the self-combustion of the explosive charge.
The authors proposed method of unloading BP can be industrially applied at the present level of technological development. The devices necessary for the implementation of this method are not unique and do not require additional inventive creativity for their creation.
The application of this method will effectively solve the problem of demilitarization of BP containing explosive charge, especially charges of non-melting or refractory poorly soluble explosives. Moreover, unlike most well-known methods of the modern level of technology, its implementation allows you to organize an effective system of environmental protection. As a result of the fact that this process proceeds without the formation of shock loads, and the energy released during the combustion of the explosive is not large and its release is extended over time, it is possible to organize good sealing of the working chamber, in which there are BPs to be discharged and the reaction is underway. The absence of the above effects allows you to install effective treatment equipment.
The advantages of this method also include the fact that it requires minimal material costs and small areas for organizing the process of unloading BP, which is very important for the Russian Federation, especially at present.
